Orange Para Military

I sure hope so, an orange para is what I really need :) I bet they'll put safety orange in the lineup if or when the para2 comes out.

Given the success of the orange millie, it's just a matter of time.

Yes, the Para2 is in the works

Sal is entertaining ideas right now
My vote: 4 washers :)

What??? A Para 2? Why change a classic? I feel strongly that the current Military and Para models should remain unchanged. They have stood the test of time, let them be.

My vote is hollow grind... for Josh. :p

Well, maybe keep making sprints. :D H1 Hollow grind sprint? I'd dig that.

I think the Para is destined to follow in the path of the Manix. Many on this forum love it, but overall sales may be lackluster. So a new knife - designed to overcome the "issues" that prevented many from adopting the old one - is created in an attempt to combine the original market with a novel one.

I suspect that the Para2 will lack the "sharp" tang and offer deeper, tip-up carry. Perhaps some slight tweaks to the compression lock tab would make it more palatable to the masses. I don't see the grind changing, but Sal surprised me with the Manix 2.

In this man's opinion, the less they change, the better.

Tip up carry? :thumbdn: The thing I love about the Military and the Para is the curved tip down clip. I don't feel the knives work in a tip up way at all.

But as evidence, plenty of people get a STR low rider mounted on the back. I wouldn't be so opposed to a four way clip if I didn't think it would change the design too much.

Yeah the popular ideas seem to be 4 way clip, and reduction of the exposed notch when closed.

If that's all they change I will be happy.

JoshK, shush about the hollow grind :p:D

I prefer a liner lock over the compression lock, but that's just me. It seems difficult to close the knife with the comp lock without having your fingers in front of the blade edge in some way, or without it being kind of cumbersome by only holding the sides of the handle when trying to close.

I'd also like to see a less curved edge - more of a drop point or spear point like the manix or sage - but then I suppose it may be a different knife altogether. (I know a lot of people have said they like the edge as is, so go easy on me for saying that. :D)

Also a deeper clip would be awesome. I'm fine with the RH tip down but wouldn't mind a 4-way option.

I'm sure they have a prototype laying around somewhere. How about it? Sal? Kristi? Prototype hollow grind Para or Military? :D

My last words on it in this thread, promise. ;)

Compression lock is better on soo many levels, but that's just me.:D

Out of legitimate curiosity, what are the reasons it is better? Just wondering if there are actual performance gains or if it is personal preference...

I believe most of it is personal preference, but some key points to the compression lock are higher strength ratings and keeping your fingers out of the way of the blade.

IIRC, both the Military and the Para are rated "hard use" at 100lbs per inch of blade.
