Orange Para Military

The compression lock is generally stronger, which is probably the most important characteristic of a lock.

The compression lock can be engaged/disengaged very quickly much like an axis lock.

It is much more difficult to accidently disengage a compression lock. Accidental closure can be common with liner locks.

The compression lock can be operated easily left or right handed. Liner is not as easy, so i've heard.

I'm sure there's more, but the first point above is the most important.

I've definitely noticed it's harder to disengage lol...that's why I "put up with it" so to speak. Good to know it's a stronger lockup too, I suppose that is the most important thing anyway.

The new para MUST have the compression lock and keep the same blade shape. If it didn't, it wouldn't be a para.

I would like a 4-way wire clip.

maybe do something with the bottom part of the handle, move the pointy part down a few cm.

Nothing else changes.

(and standardize the number of washers)

This is my feeling as well. I have plenty of sheepsfoot and wharncliffe blades; I bought the Para because I needed something different. A blade with some belly is good to have around.

This is something often overlooked about liner/framelocks. They're both prone to being disengaged by torsion. The situations where this becomes a problem are rare (never happened to me outside of experiments), but a million to one always leaves one. I haven't been able to get the Para's lock to budge under any amount of torsion.

:barf: Wire clips are for other knives.
I love wire clips, but I don't need or want them on all of my knives. I think it's rather nice that Spyderco produces several different styles of clips and they're all good designs.

I am not a fan of wire clips either. I've ruined two -- one on the caly 3 and one on the the D'allara. I inevitably seem to bump into a door frame or something else and bend them out of shape -- once they are out of shape it seems near impossible to bend them back correctly. I considered sending them in or getting new ones but I know they would just meet the same fate. I won't buy any spydies now with wire clips. I don't think its a reflection on the quality of the clips but more me being a big bobo :)

I absolutely love the Para. I think our only hope for an Orange G-10 Para, is in the Para 2. Hopefully its only change will be a deep pocket clip--as it's the only change I want.
