Orange Paramilitary 2 pre-order available!

I can't budget this when my new blue one comes tomorrow and just purchased a black one weeks ago. I would like to know why this one is like $80 cheaper than the Blue one from Bento Box, which I got?

I prefer the Manix 2 so I think 2 Para2s will do for me. I still need to get my first Persian later this year. I must stop spending for a while. I also have the translucent blue Manix 2 due next week. That will make three of my favorite knife.

Some of the real reasons:
M390 is a more expensive steel. It costs much more to make (3rd Gen PM steel) than XHP (2nd Gen PM steel).
Different companies, different profit margins. They could sell them for whatever amount they see fit.
G10 color has little to no bearing on price, I doubt blue costs twice as much to make opposed to orange.
M390 is imported steel, the Euro economy isn't doing so hot right now and that drives the cost up. XHP is an American made steel, no import costs.
Just an opinion on my end though. I sincerely doubt "hype" or "marketing" has anything at all to do with it.

So they don't put anything on the card now? or is it a partial payment?

Read the website product page. It answers your question clearly and conscisely.

If the Brown S35VN Para2 wasn't so overpriced, I'd be tempted to swap the Orange P2 XHP blade with the Brown S35VN or the Brown Millie's XHP blade with the Orange Millie's S30V and have matching Orange and Brown Millies and Para2's in XHP and S30V / S35VN.

Anyway, I'm in for one. Was tempted to buy 20 and turn pro at that price and free shipping.

Just put my order in. At only $17 more than a standard Para 2, who could resist? I just hope that the M30 Military and this don't come out too close to one another. Not only will my pocket book take a hit, but I'll have a hard time deciding what to carry.

Ahh, why did you have to post this???

After letting the Glow Manix 2 go and deciding not to bother with the blue Para2 I was proud of my discipline. But now with this one out there I may just have to break down and go through with it. When you look at the steel, color and price it makes it too tempting, oh so tempting. :grumpy:

If I go through with it I will have to be extra good for a long while, or else my family may put me in a mental institution.

Btw, anyone know if this Orange is the same or similar to the Orange on the military sprint?

Hmmmm... Was close to pulling the trigger on a digi camo s30v Para2. But that orange is sick. Why must I be a poor pizza delivery man. I want both. This will be my first Spyderco. Probably should get the sprint. I can always get the digi cam later. Grrrrrrrr.

sounds like a good idea ;)

Go for the sprint. I love orange knives. Cool looking. And easier to find. Well except maybe in the fall here in maine when the leaves are orange :)

I just ordered a para 2 black one is there any difference but the color?

what does "sprint " mean? just a pre order to have one of the first in that color?
I am new to all the knife bushiness .

Well technically this orange Para is a "Dealer Exclusive" rather than a sprint (short) run from the factory. Same idea but gives a particular dealer an exclusive Spyderco to sell. Someone above mentioned the orange Military being a sprint but I don't think so?

It started life that way, demand was high and it went from sprint to limited production. Fnally discontinued.

IIRC the orange Military was initially offered as a "limited production" model but due to demand it went into regular production.

My addiction for para2's is starting to become a problem and all these sprint runs definately aren't helping the matter, at least this one is a little more wallet friendly

Spend a day off of the forums and my dream Spyderco is announced! I got my order in for two! We're gonna have a rainbow of Para 2s coming out. :D
