on the liner lock I’m working on, I decided I’d like to try and give the Ti the orange peel treatment. Having never done it, I did some searching. I used some scrap liners to try on my scotch brite wheel and didn’t have much success. I have a cup brush type wire wheel for my big angle grinder and thought I’d give that a go. When I clamped down the liner, I seemed to get things to work well enough. However, I wanted to see about securing the grinder so I could hold the piece, such as the clip. It didn’t seem to work too well. I’m guessing it’s because I couldn’t apply the right force to the part.

So, how would you suggest I do this? I could clamp the liners and make that work out fairly easily I think. I’m worried about the clip getting tweaked out of shape trying to clamp it down, though.... Would a wire wheel on the buffer be a better choice? I have reservations no matter what in holding pieces up against spinning wires...figured I’d check here while I still have all my fingers and folder parts in tact still.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I see they make some with twisted or knotted wire-do you use one of those or the more “loose” wire wheel?

Interesting. I’m no expert, so hopefully someone else will chime in, but I thought anodizing (the color variations you can get) were results of varying the amount of electricity. The orange peel/texturing was almost a smearing of the surface on something abrasive like a wire wheel. Nice looking knife but the way :).
