Order a Custom Sebenza Scale or SNG?

This is my first post, but I have lurked for quite some time. In fact, you guys inspired me to order a Large Sebenza 21. :D I was amazed by this knife, but felt it was lacking something, so I decided to order a unique scale from CRK for it. After several emails with Heather, who was absolutely great, I requested a design with a sapphire inlay. The total was $300, ouch. I told her to continue, but was notified that they were in 3 months of back up, and haven't heard a word in 2 weeks. Here is my conundrum, I am almost scared to use the Sebenza, because of how nice it is, and now I am starting to think I'm crazy for ordering a $300 scale, which I haven't been charged for yet. I have been thinking I should take that money and order a Strider instead, particularly the SNG. I feel like I would be more comfortable using this, as it seems to look more rugged. What do you guys think? And if you guys think I should just order the Strider, which one would be closest to the class of a large Sebenza? Thanks guys =D and if I posted this in the wrong section, let me know.

Even though they both share similar features (frame lock, s30v) they are very different knives. The best way I can put it, is a strider is like a military hum V, rugged and raw. The Sebenza is like a Mercedes CLS, classy and refined.

If I were you, I'd spend the $300 on a strider instead, you can have the best of both worlds.

Welcome to Bladeforums. You might want to read the FAQs before buying anything ;)
A whole knife vs the cost of a single scale? Not a hard choice really.

I would not pay $300 for a scale, get a lightly used SnG and don't look back. :)

Thanks for the quick reply. I think you are right with going for the strider, I just feel guilty having to cancel my order with CRK. I don't believe its production has began yet, so hopefully it won't be a problem. The main reason I ordered the scale was because my Sebenza shipped new from a dealer, with a tool mark on the scale that drove me crazy for spending so much. That's good to hear about the toughness of the strider, that sounds like what I would need to edc. Thanks again.

Search "scotchbrite".

I had heard of using scotchbrite, but believed it to only be used to polish the scales. So if used light enough it will remove the scratches? Perfect. I decided to cancel the scale, and put it towards maybe another sebbie! That way I can at least use one without cringing. It took me through hell to find a new one without the Idaho stamp, and this time I'm gonna come back with a tanto edge, hopefully. :)
