BMI is just a straight formula calculation based on height and weight (no other factors are considered). While it can provide a very very rough at-a-glance guesstimation (just based on stats and averages), it is not a measure of health/fitness. The components of physical fitness are: cardio fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Height and weight measurements are not part of any of those.

BMI = ( weight_in_pounds / (height_in_inches ^ 2) ) x 703

I honestly could not care less about what my BMI is but I like statistics so it was fun to look up. I know I'm not underweight. I'm skinny but but not "Underweight skinny".

Same here. I just think its funny that i know people that base their health completely off of their BMI score. I was at the gym the other day, and there was a group of guys all bragging bout their BMI’s and they were all totally serious about it. One guy apparently gained a couple pounds and it altered his BMI the ever so slightest bit, and he was legitimately depressed...

People these days, ehh?

Nice bro. What do they measure in inches? Just curious since I work out alot and for some reason I'm obessed with the size of my arms. LOL
My BMI has always put me as overweight, which while I could stand to loose a few pounds I have more muscle mas than the average male my height. You don't get a 48" chest and 16" arms by being skinny. LOL

I have a sort of related thing about how people are obsessed with their BMI. They're kids at my school who will go around and ask everyone how much they bench. After the other person answers, they usually go "Oh, well I can bench *insert stupidest and BS answer I've ever heard in my life here*!". I just laugh and facepalm on the inside.

I think It's funny that my 9 year-old sister makes better comebacks than my 14 year-old brother. He constantly comments on everything she says and she can come up with a better comeback than he can.

People think thats THE workout to do... its a good exercise, but only good if you add other exercises. I can only bench 210.

Why don't we remove the warning signs off everything and let natural selection fix the problem? :D
 
On the topic of fitness in the last 8 weeks I have dropped 20-25lbs. I am wanting to drop weight and then gain it back in muscle mass. I was out of shape after I graduated Highschool. I barely eat at my new job and am semi watching my calorie intake since you wont drop weight if you are intaking more than you burn off.

Sexy knife time :D.


 
Congrats steel! I started weight lifting in december... i was really out of shape then. I havent noticed much of a weight difference. i have pretty much replaced fat with muscle... pound for pound. Im not concerned about my weight, as long as im heavy because of solid muscle instead of fat im okay with it :)
What have you been doing to build muscle? Have you thought of joining a gym?

To be honest at the moment I have been doing a pushup and ab routine. Since I dropped so much weight I thought about going for more of a toned look and then bulk up after that or something. The routine is three pushup variations. The first set of each variant you go to failure. So lets say 30 pushups is your max. You aim for that each subsequent set. Abs are done the same way in between the pushups for a bit of a rest.

Good job on your workout man. It is tough sometimes to stick them out haha.

I still got to tape them up, and stuff.

wow my bmi is the same a lebrons guess that means we are both overweight what a shame. i dont work out much if any i work hvac have been installing systems for about a year and half and i am in better shape now than i was went i was working out 3-4 days a week and not to mention a whole lot stronger now. so far this year i am down like 18 lbs most of which was what i call winter weight we hvac techs get lazy in the winter and sweat off the pounds in the summer. hopefully by end of summer i will be down to 200lbs again.

was using my 0350 beater at work today in a crawl space stuck it in foam insulation to keep it out of the mud on ground and caught reflection from my headlight shining i had to snap a pic gotta love the mirror polish on a work knife

Technically no. A pound of fat and a pound of muscle are both the same weight. However it is weight by volume. Muscle is more compact.

Lol nice. I measured mine again and they are just over 15. I posted 16 earlier which sounded high to me. Chest was spot on.
