Lol it's really not that bad. It looks like you tried to lower the bevel quite a bit and got fed up with it which I understand all too well. There are a few chips in the first inch or two of the edge though. How did that happen?

Yep, the first part is indeed true.
And I have no clue about the chips.

What about it confuses you?
Well, I'm able to create one pretty easily. I can get a monster burr going. Just the whole process of getting the burr off the edge of the knife is confusing and frustrating. Everything I've read about the Wicked Edge makes the Wicked Edge seem like a God machine, but I'm just worried about if I did ever get one and not being able to get the burr off. From the videos I've seen, everyone progresses up through the grits and never mentions anything about the burr and their knife is magically razor sharp.

You don't want a major burr. You sharpen one side until you get a burr on the opposing side. Once you get a burr you sharpen that side until the burr is as gone as you can make it. Then you go up in grit and repeat. When you get to higher grits, the burr will get smaller and smaller.

This is exactly what I do, but there's always a burr at the end that makes the knife seem really dull.

Try fewer swipes, and less pressure.

This. You may also want to try using the sharpmaker (you have one, yes?) to remove the burr. run the blade along the rods (I'd say use the 40 degree setting unless you're working with low angles) extremely lightly and check after each pass. This is what I normally do and it seems to work well for me.

Same here.

I won a GAW in the traditional section. I'm happy.

Well, I watched a few more videos where Clay (the creator of the Wicked Edge) explained why he was doing what he was doing and it helped.

Congratulations!

hmm, what knife should I carry to drivers ed, when I drive? :D
Your 0550. You'll need a nice, beefy/tank-like knife to cut you and your instructor out of your seatbelts when you crash. The poor people in the other vehicle might need to be cut out too.
