Meeting will come to order...

:D

Finding myself more and more reaching for a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot to ride along for the day, cutting whatever is needed. Here in the OOTSE, we do not discriminate on spine shape or how pointy it is. The color or type of material its made from or how big or small the frame or blade(s) be. What matters is that sharp edge be straight! Well, atleast one of the knife's blades must be ;)

Post your pictures, carving projects, reasons you prefer them, storys or whatnot. Know your amomg friends and fellow followers of the straight edge :). Ill raise my glass of single malt to the crowd, cheers and welcome.

I bought a sheepsfoot Charlow because that was all that I could find for sale when I looked. I have added more since. I really like them. Great for cutting into stuff. I don't care for the wharncliffe as much, but the sheepsfoot is just sturdy and very usefull.

I prefer straight-edged blades in concert with a clip, so WTs are right up there in my estimation.

Certainly agree with you on the combo Jeff. I would say without hesitation that my moose by J. Oeser is my most versatile knife. I find myself grabbing a single blade lately because I find that my clip and spear blades (when carried with a straight edged blade) get little to no use. I would give the edge (pun intended) to bellied blades when it comes to food prep. I dont do that on a daily basis and findthe wharnie or sheepsfoot to easily handle an apple or cutting a ssandwich in half. Non the less I am always on the search for a knife to prove me wrong :D

Eureka Moose by Jared Oeser

Whats funny is I would say I have used the sheepsfoot blade on about a scale of 10 to 1 over the clip. The food just patinas the blade so much. Held in the right light though and all the scratches tell the story on the sheepsfoot. Glad I asked Jared for a rougher finish :)

This is really the only traditional I have bought myself (not given) and kept:

It's easy to open (I like to pinch), easy to sharpen (when the steel cooperates), and does what I need it to do.

I love my #61 Half-Congress in Elephant Ivory. Very slim in the pocket. :)
I love the Coping secondary and the Warnie on this one... Ease of sharpening a straight edge is something I like. Three of my folders have Coping secondaries and I really like them.

Great thread RG,here are some of mine and a piece of stone inlay work I did years ago. I used the little coping blade for the layout work.

Best regards

Robin

Thanks again Jack.

I'll add a few of my straight edges. I never leave home without at least one straight edged blade.

Most impressive display's gents

Robin, great job on that inlay and most impressive peachseed jigging. Love it!

Aye aye Charlie. Your words always seem to elicit a smile from my face.

Tonight I hope to wrangle all my straight edges together for a group shot.
