Do those scales fit in the factory sheath?
Great looking knife
Hey Noob.....
I hope you enjoy yor 14.......I use mine a lot.....Everyday during heating season and I ALWAYS have one in the 'I gotta go right now" bag.......i edc it more and more in the sheath in the right front pocket......
Thanks for buying one of my knives....
All Best.....
Ethan
Unfortunatly, no.
You mean the new zytel scales won't fit the factory sheath?
Thanks for your quick reply, I should have read things more closely.
I got it! Eskabar, Zytel Scales and a Lansky Deluxe System. Cost literally doubled due to international shipping and customs duty. Still worth it.
@#%*# camera is lent out to a friend so I will put up pics on Monday.
First Impressions- It is bloody robust. Feels indestructible. Haven't cut anything significant with it except veggies and a cpl chicken breasts but it just fits.
Edge could be sharper though. Bladite's database says 15 degree sharpening angle. I assume that's on each side?? I cant believe I did not think of this. Any advice? The Lansky has 17, 20, 25, 30 degrees. Are the angles on the Lansky inclusive or per side? Reason dictates the angles on the Lansky are inclusive and Bladite's recommended angle of 15 deg is on each side. Ideal setting on the Lansky for the Eskabar, anyone?
Sheath doesn't appear to dull the knife. It seems to me that there is just under 2mm clearance between the blade edge and sheath material. Plus there is no rattle. I don't know if it will develop over time though. I will sharpen it and check the sheath. I am thinking of pushing an oild soaked leather strip into the edge part of the sheath if it does dull the edge.
Advice please.
No experiance with the lansky, sorry Vasu. Seems you got one of the newer sheaths if theres isnt any problems. Enjoy your 14...Any questions just ask me and I'll try and help you.
Thank you Cam. Well I have no intentions of stripping it or anything considering I live in one of the world's most humid environments. But I would just like to know what I should keep the edge geometry at?

My new Eskabar!

I am practicing re-profiling and sharpening with my Lansky kit on other knives before I do this.
