Ordered me a monster on Fri 13th!

It can be downright dangerous swinging a very heavy khukuri at anything that can't stop the swing.
Agree 100%
What if the branch which you thought could stop the Kuk gives much faster and the Kuk keeps moving
I won't work with a Kukri which I can't control even if I miss.
--> Don't go too big and heavy OR spend more time in the Gym.
Since I am able to do one armed pullups I feel very comfy swinging even the ASTK:thumbup:
My hands are quite big too and the 12 inch AK which I have has a handle which is just too small and pokes its shiny metal butt into my hand. --> I really need big blades since they have bigger handles.

I understand what you guys are saying and totally respect it! If your not just a little bit scared of it then thats when you get in trouble. When I ordered my 25" Siru i had a lot of people telling me the same thing about its weight. I swing it all day long and take an occasional break when I think I need it. I feel like I have good control of it even in a miss or glance situation and I have missed a few times. Maybe you cant stop it but you can have some control over its direction or use its weight to get your body out of the line of fire. Occasionally you have to do a weird position cut or something that may not be your normal stance or whatever but you have to think about the consequences before you swing if you do happen to miss. When you swing an axe you have to make sure there is nothing behind you to snag on the upswing and you have to make sure there is something below to take the hit if you miss and be prepared if you glance with a near miss. The same thing goes with any big blade. This Khuk will be an occasional tool for when Im cutting firewood among other tasks. There have been many times when I miss a limb with the chainsaw and you already put your saw up or when you almost got something split and want to cut some offending flesh between two already split halves or just to open a beer:D Hmmm? Wonder how big the cho is?

To me the 25" Siru is deceiving. It's not that hard to swing and it really doesn't feel that heavy. It's the length per weight or something. Caution for sure and depends on the person but the Siru isn't beastly like an AK or even an M43 etc.

I was really surprised first time I held it.

That Siru is a thing of beauty for sure! Ill end up getting an M43 or CAK for sure but this 20" beast just wont get off the top of my wish list for some reason.

Ah!!! Glad you made it back from your shopping spree safely Bawanna! I hate crowds and traffic just the same. This year family is coming to my house. I hate getting on the road for holidays. Hope you didnt have to use any of your lead or steel to get home!

Took your advice and strapped the 25" Siru on my back. Everywhere I went paths opened before me and nobody wanted to fight.

I felt like Dirty Harry, everybody just ran!

Are you kiddin me? Ha! only Bawanna! Id have some splainin to do to the sherf If I carried anything like that!

chopping spree?

Because you want one is a good reason to get one, if you can afford it. ;)

I helped start the Monster Khukri trend years ago by ordering Godzilla from uncle Bill. A 25", 5 pound Ang Khola with a 3/4" spine. Think broad sword in the shape of a Khukri. He has since moved to a different home, but comes over for a visit from time to time. Big choppers are great around camp, but not so good if you are backpacking. My two person backpacking tent weights as much as Godzilla does minus the scabbard.

This thread needs more pictures!!!

one of my first big buys on the DOTD was a 4 lb 26 inch dui chirra with 6 tool kit, it is so massive it makes me laugh, if we ever go back to feudal society I will offer this one up as the beheading sword until I can get that custom kothimoda kora

Whhhoah! Would love to see that piece! I bet its beautiful! I dont plan to pack this monster very far but it will have some usage around the house and in the house!

Ive seen Godzilla pics:thumbup: Love them! Is that the same as the Sgt. Kadkha 25" Super AK?

yeah i am a sucker for the tool pouch, I wish more came with the old tender pouch with assortment of leather and crafting tools

Anything above 32oz is best used on a chopping block. My favorite camp knife is a 16.5 inch WWII. It works great for de-limbing and campfire prep.

Agree with that! I cut me a few stumps last week just for that purpose. One is going in the doghouse today with me for chopping up kindling and the other is to put my anvil on. 16.5 inch sounds like it would make a good all around camp knife. Sounds similar proportions as the KLVUK?

Top is a 20" Ang Khola and highly polished Chakmak and Karda. Kami is 5-ray sun? Middle is an 8 1/4" Kagas Katne. This is not your normal size Kag by the way. It is almost 2" longer than the normal Kag and is more like a 9" Siru! It has a wooden handle of very dark reddish color and is beautiful. It is partial tang and a really nicely shaped bell pommel. Wow! Just found out via email this special Kag is a gift from HI. I thought i got someone elses order. That just makes it more special! Thanks Aunti and HI! This one lives in my pocket starting now! Now there's a company with class:thumbup: Below is a KLVFFK (Keshar Lal's friend vojpur villager Kagag Katne) Aarupate wood handle but as my luck would have it my wife says she loves it too so guess what? Yep she got it to go with her KLVUK! Might be talking to ya soon pugs:thumbup: Your piggyback idea just wont go away!

Here is a spine shot with KLVFKK just for reference. Monster aint it! It doesnt "feel" as heavy as I thought it would.

Not sure what kind of wood this is but id guess neem? Pictures dont do justice for the wood on these blades. All of them are really unique and nicely figured. Once I get them polished and oiled up I think they will really pop.

And a warm greeting from HI of Mt. Everest and Mt. Nuptse hanging on to the last rays of sun for the day.

Most of us are familiar with the quality of service that HI provides and I wont deny that I have gotten some good deals on the DOTD offerings but when you order something from them directly out of the store there is a special attention to quality and exceptional beauty you just cannot get anywhere else. Time to do some chopping! Review coming soon as possible!

That my good friend is a proverbial thing of beauty. I love the handle on that beast and the Karda and Chakma are drop dead gorgeous too.

Very sweet. Looks even more highly polished than normal if that's even possible.

I'm happy for you. You waited a long time for that one.

I'm almost certain that's neem wood. It looks great as is, but the tight grain will really pop if you polish it to 2000 - 8000 grit, then give it a few coats of good quality sealant (and rub it some more after the sealant cures).
