Ordered My First Busse - What Have I Got Myself Into?

Welcome!! The madness includes being broke, numerous credit card transactions, and always wanting just one more. Let the addiction begin:D

One of the best all around knives ever made. :D You will not be sorry you own it. In a five knife lineup it is perfect... #1 (edc), RMD, Boss Jack, #4 (large camp), #5 (chopper)

Nice. Very nice.

Also, rational.

Not something we see around here, much.:)

I want to thank all of you for the warm welcome and advice. A good "vibe" from this crew. I was a bad boy this weekend. As noted in my initial post above I ordered the Boss Jack LE on Friday. Trail Wolf and Vox Hog put some undue psychic google fu spell on me to go to the Swamp Rat web site and order a RMD ..... I think that was yesterday. I can only blame myself for completing the Trifecta and falling prey to the purchase of a Sus Scrofa, which was the very first Busse knife I ever laid eyes on.

I can officially say the weekend is over for me as I have contacted a very severe case of BBD - "Binge Busseism Disease" . Rx is rest, no alcohol, and stay away from Busse knife pictures. The doc said the cure will be when the knives begin arriving but that a relapse is quite probable

As everyone else has said, Welcome to the madness!!! I got out of guns originally because I "thought" knives would be a cheaper hobby. Many thousands later guns seemed cheap.

Dunno what this guy is talking about. I have a list of at least 50 to buy in the future!! :D

I've been thinking about the RMD but it seems to cover a lot of the same ground from the boss jack.

What's the deal with the RMD?

Well in short, it is just ergonomically perfect. It feels like it is part of your hand and it is a strong Mofo. Here's a couple of links that might help you:

Yup that pretty much sums it up - the handle is fantastic and the length is perfect for about 90% of anything youd ever need a knife to do...

I still would like to see it in satin and in INFI for enhanced corrosion resistance....

Speaking of this has anybody had trouble with satin or stripped SR101? I've seen some of the old school blades that came out of the Swamp that were offered in satin and it makes me wonder with SR101 being known as having less corrosion resistance if anybody has had issues with this.

Correct pronunciation is Bus (like the school Bus type) with an EEEEEE on the end.

Bus-eee

Welcome!!!

Not bad for your first weekend. :D

But don't think it will stop at three... it's only the beginning. :D

One of my most used knives is a Satin Battle Rat and I have never had any corrosion issues at all. Satin SR101 will develop a cool looking light patina over time.

I wipe them down after use, wipe the blades once a year with a Marine Tuff-cloth, and store them dry and unsheathed. I do this with ALL of my users, not just the Swamp Rats.

Holy crap you guys weren't kidding. My RMD just got here, this thing is awesome.

The blade is a hair longer than I thought, I could have sworn I ready that it was 4.75" long. Doesn't matter much though, just means I can't conceal it.

Well, I keep telling myself that the incredible completely unconditional lifetime Busse warranty means that I don't need that many Busse knives, as they would be repaired/replaced if broken for whatever reason.

I keep telling myself that.

Over and over.

Again.
