Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of that. Reminds me of a chefs knife or something. The blade sure reminds me of the Carson Model 4.

I'm after a "user" anyway, so $300 in D2 doesn't sound so bad -- paid more than that for my small Sebenza!

Still hoping I actually get the knife. I've lost out on a few deals lately -- arrived a few minutes too late.

Good luck in getting your first custom Michael. :) I have been able to move a few of my production knives to finance my first custom.:D Now the problem is what do I get? I have found some makers here in New Mexico, but what am I looking for in a custom? I want an EDC, but what are the telltale signs that distinguish a good custom knife from an ok knife? Maybe this should be it's own topic? Well good luck on your first custom Michael! :D

Karen just called me back and confirmed my order.

I'm set! Hope I didn't make a mistake. :-(

Already starting to have doubts about it being a "user". SN #3 sounds too cool!

Nice knife! :)

Thanks. I just hope it gets here before the 14th, when I head up to Minnesota to spend the week with my family (parents, grandparents, sisters, etc).

Wanna show off the new toys!

Mike,

Welcome to the work of custom knives, it is all downhill from here!!

You now have a choice - use your new knife and enjoy it as it was meant to be used. OR buy a spare with a higher serial number and put the first one into a box so that it does not get marked etc.

Depending on which of these routes you choose will make you a marked man in you future relations with people like Karen and Les...

Regards,

Ed

(once upon a time I used to think I will only need one folding knife and fixed blades are a waste of time - sometimes my wife wishes I still thought that way ......writing this while waiting for the mailman.... :D )

Mike,
Congratulations and welcome to the fold. Hope you enjoy the new knife and that it serves you well. Jay and Karen are part of the group that makes custom knives so enjoyable for me.

Ed your "knife fairy" tail sounded very familiar to me. Yeah that's the ticket a nice custom folder is all I would ever need. :D

Gus,

It's worse than that... the postman has been and there were two VERY nice fixed blades (George Herron and Walter Brend) in the package.

Now how did that happen? Must be talking to Les in my sleep again.

Regards,

Ed

Ordered a Mike Obenauf from Arizonza Custom Knives. I couldn't reach them in person, so I _hope_ they still have it to sell to me. #3588

Michael - hope you enjoy your Obenauf, they look to be very well made folders (of coourse, Obenauf has one of the best teachers for tactical folders ;)) His knives look very similar to Kit's Mdeol 4 with a different handle.

As a matter of fact, I called Jay yesterday and ordered #3587, the one with the 4" D2 blade. It'll be here tomorrow, I'll post scans and first impressions tomorrow night.

I look forward to it.

I filled out the order form, and added in the comments that I need to receive it by Friday the 13th. Dunno the shipping method they will choose.

Defintely can't wait. Also should be seeing my 154CM EDC any day now...

Mike

Just peeked at thier web page. All 4 are spoken for. I'm thinking they went pretty quick...?

Mike - IIRC Karen told me that they use UPS 3-Day select as their default shipping method, and can use others (Next Day, 2nd Day, etc) at the customer's request. Yours probably went out today. Email them for a tracking number.

Congratulations, Michael. That sure looks like a great functional design. Be sure to let us know what you think when it gets to you.:)

Welcome to the best part of collecting! The wait ;). Just kidding, I think the best part is when the knife shows up in the mail and you open the package and hold it for the first time and it's everything you thought it would be. That is an unbelievable feeling. and IMHO is part of the Knife Knut addiction. Anyone can get one off a table at a show, but if you have to wait, when it finally DOES arrive, man that is the best feeling in the world!

I see they are all sold :(

Anyone know how to get in touch with Mike directly? I would like to order one.
