Ordered my first GEC - Serpentine Jack -

Duncan, both of those knives are looking great.
I love the little Jack tough, I'll have to pick one up soon.
My friend...I feel very honoured when I see you mention your #56 dog Leg, and now you know just how I feel about this Serpentine Jack....its just a perfect knife for me!
The 1095 goes off quickly...although I keep my blades ALWAYS mineral oiled etc...Auckland New Zealand has a fairly high Humidity, and this shows n my blades....I have to be very on-to-it with maintaining with Mineral oil - my blades.

It has happened!

I got my second GEC Serpentine Jack in green bone today! It´s the same pattern, as I got from willgoy http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...pentine-Jack-arrived-today!-Thank-you-willgoy! (willgoy´s #66 will always keep a special place in my colletion!)

When I came home from work I found that one in mail. My wife paid the customs to the postman and everything was alright.

They are a nice twin pair, aren´t they?!

The F&F on this one is like on that one of Will´s. Everything seems to be a pretty good finished pocket knives. No gaps, bladeplay or whatever! The knife came sharp ootb, but not razorsharp (I gonna fit that up :) )

Another gem in my small but fine collection! I´m so happy about owning tow GECs right now. Great and beautiful users without any kind of worrying or agrueing about. I really like the knives GEC builds.
Won´t be my last GEC, I´m sure. Great knives!

I hope you guys enjoy the pics!

Kind regards
Andi

Nice looking jack Andi  I recently picked up my first #66 as well in pumpkin patch acrylic. The F&F is very nice, aside from some pretty noticeable swirlmarks/shallow scratches on each blade. This isn't something you've notice on either of yours is it? Thanks.

Nathan

Nathan,

being honest... No! ;) I haven´t seen any scratches on the blades or swirlmarks on none them. Both knives are finished absolutelly without any complaints. I really love them...

Kind regards
Andi

Bummer, looks like I'll need to send it in to GEC. Fortunately I won't be knifeless in the meantime :)

Nathan

That #66 looks great Andi!!

Nathan, The Pumpkin Patch is a Northfield right? I've seen that on Northfields before and I think that is how they are finished/polished. The Tidioutes have satin finishes and I haven't noticed any of those marks.

Hey Trand,
Yep it's a Northfield. I asked about the finish because both blades have the same markings so I'm assuming it came that way from the factory. However I purchased a Northfield #85 E/O at the same time and the finish on that blade is very clean. The scratches give a dirty overall look to the knife so I'm gonna see what GEC can do for me. I've had great experience (chatting at least) with their customer service previously and I don't expect any different this time

Nathan

Your NF 85EO is also satin finished. I very often request satin finished Northfield SFO's simply because I like GEC's satin finish better myself.....

congratulations Andi, may he serve you long
it is not easy to get one on this side of pond

Yes, you´re right. But there´s a vendor who is really nice and competent. I can give you the adress, if you want. It´s in the US, but an absolutelly nice guy and good prizes.

I´m sure it will serve me very well... GECs are great knives!! :) :)

Kínd regards

What I forgot to tell you guys is that... I got promoted this week in my job. It doesn´t make much money per month. But it´s cool :)

And the knife, I´ve so long waited for has also arrived. Must have been a good week for me :D

Kind regards
Andi

Thanks for the info Mike, the EO is the only other Northfield I own (I try to stick with GEC branding for the 440C) and I absolutely love it. Is there a name for the standard Northfield finish?

Sorry for derailing the thread a bit Andi, I'll take some pics of the pumpkin patch and post them to atone :)

Nathan

ETA: Congrats on the promotion Andi!

Alright, Nathan! No problem for derailing a little bit!

Thanks for the congratz :)

Kind regards
Andi

Good news there! Quite a wait though eh?

Now if GEC were to do one in Red, you could have a traffic light trio:D

All the best, Will

Yes, that would be a good thought.

Red one - heavy cutting tasks
Yellow one - medium cutting tasks
Green one - light cutting tasks

I´m already thinking about that...

Thank you for your words!

Kind regards
Andi

Good point Trand. There's also a new 66 Moose out in Dark Red Cherry Bone........Or Hot tomato??

Hm... building a traffic light GEC collection has something to think about :)

I´m also looking on a Powderhorn Jack in Red Bone (I have seen it on some shopsites). But a stockman or a moose pattern would also be nice... (ironic words on) My poor wallet (ironic words off) ;)

Kind regards
Andi

Andi,
congrats for your new knife. It seems to get along well with the orange one. As for traffic lights, the first one is too orange. You would have needed the jigged yellow bone version. :D
Or, eventually, you could start with flags. Ireland for example. Or Ivory Coast. Or Niger. Or ........
Just kidding. When GEC will bring out this knife in their 440C, I will jump on it like a cat on a mouse.

Fausto

Hi guys!

The #66 Serpentine Jack is a pretty nice, small and useful knife... You should not miss that one in 1095 ;) But I´m sure 440C would also make a finde decision!

Have a nice sunday!

Kind regards
Andi
