I just ordered my first Spyderco today.I got a D2 Military from New Graham. This is my first quality, clip in the pocket folder.I'm really looking forward to my early Christmas present to myself.

I handled a Para Military not long ago and really liked the G10.I've handled the Police model and thought I would get that one untill I felt the G10.I haven't handled the Military yet but I think I'll like it.

You have been bitten by the Spyder, welcome to the addiiction. I tried a 12 step program, it didnt work. All kidding aside, IMO Spyderco makes the best production knives on the market. BRING BACK THE DODO! At least a sprint run.

UPS brought it today.I was surprised at how big it is.Even more surprised that I could clip it in my pocket and forget it is there. This is exactly what I've been looking for in an EDC.

the military is awesome. its large but very light. i feel safer when i have my military on me. i got mine fully serrated.

About 5 years ago, I came up with a set of things that I wanted in my EDC main folder.

1. Had to be a good utility knife but capable to perform SD task.
2. Had to have at least a 4inch blade.
3. I wanted a hole not a thumb stud because the studs sometimes come out.
4. It needed to be light and ride well in my pocket.

after looking around, I found one knife that met my requirements to the t, and it is today and will always be a military model. I currently have the CF BG-42 and the Foliage Green D2 versions, and will pick up a S30V soon to round out the collection.

Congrats on the new Military. I always love these first spydie threads because the excitement is palpable and it is nice to share some of the joy. I am a die hard fixed blade guy and usually buy Scrapyard knives but I needed a folder for those times when you just can't carry a fixed blade. First I got a Byrd Crossbill and then went right to the other end and got a Chinook3. I love the sound the lock makes on the Chinook3. It is like a spring fired deadbolt. Since then I picked up a SS Serrated Police which is a HUGE knife that disappears in your pocket it is so slim. I then got a Yang kitchen knife in VG 10 which gets the most use of probably any of my knives.

My next Spydie will probably be the Mule team skelly unless it takes to long then I might have to get a FRN Endura in VG10 to hold me over. At 50$ how can you not get one?

The Street Beat was a nice little jewel as well hmm?
