Ordered S30-V received 154-CM. Problem?

The thing is Im sure if you look at the site deeper and or the M/T warranty you will find that specs can change without notice. The specs for that knife were probably put there when the DOC was first released or the last run. They dont know of a steel change until they get them either. I think 154cm is a great steel. And If given the choice I would always take 154cm. Honestly the price difference between the two steels as a raw material is negligible. You arent paying for materials in most cases but for the process to get them from that state to a finished product in with the fit and finish M/T is known for.

I think it's a step down from S30V (at least in terms of price)

honestly in this case the difference in cost is not significant. for instance a very well knife supply company sells the two steels in 18" sections and when comparing the two steels in that size the s30v bar stock is only $5 more. That is for the same thickness, width and length. Your talking in the case of the DOC maybe a $2.50 difference in price. n

So i looked into it a bit for ya. If its a issue to you send it back but if not from what ive seen the price is the same on the 154cm model and the s30v models so i doubt it really matters.

They have outdated info ( older s30v run) . Microtech makes runs in different steels , and they do great heat treatment so I wouldn't worry , I have one of 154cm in my collection as well .
actually I would be happy to receive something beside s30v .

Cool. I'm not gonna mess with them. I don't plan on beating on this knife. It looks even better than I expected. And the fact it can be made sharper than s30v, and microtech has excellent heat treat, is making me kinda glad this steel is what I ended up with.

And the fact it can be made sharper than s30v

I don't think you will be able to find a difference there, both steels will easily take a hair whittling edge, and with some work they will both get sharper than that. Still, 154CM is one of my all time favorite steels, great all around attributes
