Ordered The 4 (In Already!)

"A warm cabin in the winter is a good thing. If I can even get back there int he winter, haha. They said the lane gets extremely icy. "
Heard it was supposed to be a hard winter here in Midwest? Got some firewood & fixin to get more.
Congrats on the 4 Warrior--Nice blade thats on my list!
Pic's & some choppin to come I'm sure..

I need to get my chainsaw cleaned up, and take it down there. The self oiler is clogged up.

Thanks man. You know me, I'm a picture taking fool. Rarely take less than 100 photos per outing. Usually, it's closer to the 300 range. I just pick the best ones.

Probably not. I'll probably end up striping it. I do like gsom's modded 4....a lot.

you mean this ol' thang?

Thanks for the compliment. I will say that the 4 was pretty close to the bottom of my list of wants....held one at last years gathering and thought that it was too small....then I bought WW's (mostly to help him out) and realized that I really needed to have one and use it to really make that judgement. Bigghoss' recommendations aside, I really think the 4 is one of the must haves. It's probably the most versatile tool in Ethan's lineup. Course, I'm still waiting on the RBK......

The very one. You're welcome, that thing is awesome.

When I bought the last one, I felt the same way, that it was too small. Then after people kept talking about how well it works, and the versatility of it, it made me want another.

I really liked the 4, but it just wasn't for me. It was really stupid of me too trade it, I guess that's just part of being young....I hope I learn fast...:D

Threads like this aren't good for me. :p

That's what I thought of it when I first got one. Like I said, I never even gave it a chance. That will change.

It's a great BK for sure. If I could only have one knife and had to choose between the 9 and the 4 the 4 would hands down win. Can do small knife tasks better, chop, draw cut...everything really. Here are a few pics:

Man, all this four action got me playing around with mine today. Had the nine in one hand and the four in the other. Yea, I was looking pretty bad ass in front of the mirror slicing thru the air at lightning speed, just incase you were wondering. lol

Anyway, I sharpened mine up and snapped a couple photos.

I am Thinking about removing the pommel? Any thoughts?

Congrats Dubz. I agree with the kid though... These threads arent good for me either.

Cool beans! :)

Well then, I think the only thing to do, is to scale up the print, and proto a one-off Magnum Machax. Hmmm, hmm, hoo, hah, HAHHHH!! :D

Gotta watch those air slices, they can get pretty nasty.

It's funny, considering as how the 4 is my all-time favourite blade, I don't have many pictures. Here's one with a couple of friends:

Here's one with its cousin:

Here's one, blade only:

And how about a dated one?

It seemed like, for a long time, the Machax was Ethan's best kept secret. It's good to finally see the appreciation it's due.

Nice edge, Dexwithers. Looks scary sharp! What gear/techniques do you use to sharpen your 4?

Funny, the 4 looks like the only Becker in this pic that has seen much use. Pairing it with a Bravo, now that's a killer combo!

nice mod on the nose, Dex.
tho I think I'm gonna do a GSOM if I get one.

Of course you will. You're the one that suggested (goaded me into) it in the first place. And, you've got the rendering. I'll be looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully you'll get to handle mine (the 4, to be clear) at the Gathering in a few weeks.

Thanks JWL. It is very sharp at the moment. lol. I actually was testing this BK-4 against my BK-9 a couple of years ago on an old christmas tree, and like an idiot, I forgot to move the 9 out of the way so they hit each other when it glanced off the tree into the ground. Anyway, I then reprofiled the edge on both of them with my lansky system to get the small chips out of the blade.

So this weekend I put the BK-4 on my KO Worksharp with the attachment belt system to give it more of a convex edge. It seemed to work great! I usually like doing things by hand but I am warming up to the worksharp systems. But other than that, I usually just strop the hell out my knives. haha

Thank you daizee. I have to admit, I love GSOM's mod too! As most of you know, I really don't care for the clipped ends on Ethan's knives so I have rounded down my 4, 7, 9, and 10.
I just really like smooth curves. But I am going to do GSOM's mod to my next Machax cause it is truly bad ass. Reminds me of the old Warrior Machax.
Great mod GSOM.

The picture was taken when the 2 and 3 were new. You might have seen my video when we put the 3 through its paces. It doesn't look like that now. The 2 doesn't get any use - for me, it's too short for the thickness of blade.

In use, the Bravo1 gets joined with my Izula II and either my BK-3 or BK-4, depending on what I'm doing.

Nice. Did you use the edge guides or freehand it? I have the regular worksharp but have been doing things more by hand lately. I made a couple of portable convex sharpeners from altoids tins with mouse pads glued to them, and sandpaper.
