Ordered the Maxped 10x4 bottle holder...

I just ordered the maxped 10x4 bottle holder as I was looking for a minimalist way to carry my guyout as well as some very basic gear (firestarting mostly) while hunting small lots close to home. While in the big woods up north (Michigan) I always carry a complete pack full of all the goodies but lately I've been hunting small (30-40 acre parcels surrounded by houses/farms) and don't feel the need for the big pack.

Anyway, Does anyone here currently have or use the 10x4 bottle holder? If so, what are your opinions of it?

It just seemed like the perfect way to carry my water and a firestarting kit without worrying about all the extra weight. Any opinions are appreciated.

I ordered mine yesterday after reading some threads and seeing the pictures of the set up. I'm sure you won't be dissappointed. Can't wait for mine to arrive.

Did you order any additional pouches ? I ordered an M1 to go with it.

Good solid choice for bummin' around the woods within easy distance of shelter. Lots of options for attaching pouches and such.

I didn't order anything extra. I have a anemone with a small kit that I planned on attaching to it. It looks like a solid set-up that will serve my needs for those times I'm close to home/truck etc.

Excellent pics Mike Fitz. Makes me want mine to get here so I can get set-up. I love the anticipation of waiting on new gear to arrive. Before it gets here I've usually already come up with a million ideas on how I want to set it up or any mods I plan on making.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Thanks for the pics Mike... but you may want to delete the last one (the one with the ziplock baggie with white powdery substance). I mean... it's none of of our business what you do... just sayin'... ;):D

Thanks guys! Ummm.... the substance in question in the last pic is actually toilet paper. Cause you never know......

;)

I ordered mine from off the map outfitters, I ordered the cocoon pouch, strap and shoulderpad from Maxpeditions site.

You can try Lighthound as well- they now carry the straps and shoulder pads, one of the few places that have straps. Great place to buy from as well with quick shipping!

Toilet paper? Like women use in the powder room? Real survival men use plant materials like tree bark, cattails, Mullin, dried grass and fungi. By the way, Wal-Mart sells backpackers TP rolls that are really compact, coreless and easy to use. Sand, gravel, nettles, hercules club.....

Here is my hitech-high speed-low drag woodsrunning pack...

A Swiss army surplus bag. I add internal pockets and it does duty for wade fishing in the spring, summer woods tramping, fall and winter hunting and camping. I'll have to get a picture of mine loaded for a day of deer hunting. Season opens here in the morning, three does per day limit, one buck a day up to a total of three.

I sure do like your bag though.

You'll never get a more exhilarating wipe than you will from a nice big ball of fresh, packed snow. GOOD MORNING!!!

Yeah, a nice coating of ice on dry, crusty leaves is just the thing to start your day off on a happy note...

:D

Here is my set-up. I like that I got some shelter kicking with this deal ~ Emergency Bivvy and Intragral Designs 5x8 Tarp/Poncho that can also be a bivvy...

2in strap is the one I have. Its still kinda short. Not bad though. Are you comparing it to the 1.5?

Yep- compared to the 1.5" strap I have on my bottle holder it's about 4" longer. Longer straps in black are probably easier to find than OD since a lot of briefcase type bags are black and the straps are likely longer.
