Ordering TGLB, Handle Question...

I think is going to look great, I'm not use to having choices with regards to blade and handle color but its nice having the option. I saw one TGLB with the black blade and black handle and it looked stellar as well...maybe you can't make a "bad" choice.
Did I read it correctly that the G10 adds an an ounce or two to the total weight over one with Micarta scales?...I couldn't care less how heavy the knife is just didn't realize that G10 was heavier.
When you order is says 4-14 weeks...what's "average"...maybe 8 weeks or so?
Enjoy the long weekend guys!

I've never weighed G10 vs Micarta, but both materials are about equally as dense and I can't see it making a 1-2 oz difference on an 18 oz knife. G10 may actually be slightly heavier than Micarta in the same handles, but its likely more like a few grams than a few ounces.

EDIT: The only real difference between G10 and Micarta is the material used as the substrate within the phenolic resin. G10 uses a fiber mat (think fiberglass), and Micarta uses Canvas. The real world difference as far as weight goes is going to be negligible.

I see, I was going by the gentlemen that said "The only downside to G-10 is that it is more dense and does add some weight over micarta handles, which also tends to change the balance of the knife towards being more handle heavy"...I never realized that their was a weight difference, especially one great enough to change the balance of the knife. It doesn't matter, my primary concern was having the handle be a true black (contrast to the Tanker Gray blade) and have zero issues with durability or grip. I've never had any issues with any handle material here in Florida even though it rains like there's a hurricane right off shore a few times a week and our humidity is similar to Vietnam...(Florida is like Vietnam minus the charm)

Its all good, looking forward to using my first Busse! I can hardly wait to try out INFI for the first time and see how much difference there is between it and steels like 3V and PD-1. Its certainly a great time to be a knife user/nut as there are a lot of great choices out there now. I have a feeling that this knife is going to be special. :D

Thanks.

The weight and strength of micarta and g10 are really close, the difference in weights between knives is more a slight difference in final grind than anything else. As for wait time, I've had them take 8 weeks, or 2 days, or anywhere in between. It just depends on how many are in front of you, and with all the models available right now and any upcoming special runs it could take the full wait time. No telling. It is worth the wait though when you finally get it in your sweaty mits you will be happy.

The thing I've noticed about the difference between infi and other steels is that it tends to be more forgiving to damage, it holds a good edge even when your doing something stupid with it, and the ability to flex instead of break is better than most. When you add the two together is where you really get a knife that shines in use.

Black Canvas Micarta will *never* look "black", short of coloring it. Sure, it will darken, and I like it best, but it's nowhere near as Black as G10 or Paper Micarta. Not even close.

If a deep dark Black is what you seek, skip Canvas Micarta.

When wanting deep dark Black and most durable - G10 is the clear choice in my experience.

I prefer g10 but i couldn't tell you why to save my life... i just find it more comfortable in the hand i suppose
