Oregon Firearms Academy

I agree. There's really not much 'cute' about them except the way they happen to look, which makes it easy to underestimate them. Pretty rugged and independent little guys that people forget, or not know, were bred to go underground and kill things. Jasper (pictured) tends to be "soft" but we've got a little red that's a natural hunter.
Enjoy your Oregon adventure, and with others here I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

Kill "things"??

Kill these!

I've taken a two day rifle course and a two day pistol course. I'd like to take a shotgun course with my rem 870. It's a whole lot of fun.

I's funny you ask because at first I was more hyped about the wilderness skills. I have some good basic skills, but as we all know, you can never know enough and the OFA team seems very knowledgeable.

BUT

After thinking about it, the defensive handgun course is probably more exciting to me because the skills can be used in the wilds AND at home in dfense of my loved ones and myself.

I am just stoked for the WHOLE experience actually!

Carl-

Carl, why would you travel all the way to the west coast for a wilderness skills course when they're offered all over the place? What courses are you taking anyway?

I might be wrong, but I believe Carl lives in the east coast of Oregon...?? But I could be wrong.

Carl,
Let us know how it goes. I'm seriously considering a course down there ("down" from where I reside), weighing it against the "shooting only " offerings at Front Sight (when I get more feedback about FS). I know from people who attended that the OFA is terrific.
Gargs

Gargs,

Have you taken any of the classes down at Sharpshooters? They have a few basic offerings I've been thinking of looking into.

Since moving to the area, I've been trying to find a place to go plinking on my own. Do you know of any places out in the woods to go shooting around Spokane? Fishtrap Lake is the only one I know of, and it's a fair drive.

Sharpshooters does a nice job - family friendly place. See Travis and he'll tell you which is what - worth a trip if you haven't been since they also have a decent selection of guns for sale or rent that you can browse thru.

I haven't found a place to plink yet...it amazes me seeing as how a number of years ago it seemed like you could drive less than 10 minutes in any direction and shoot. I heard somewhere near Dishman there's a range, but that's 12 miles for me, so I stay with Sharpshooter. For what it's worth, my Seattle buddy's having the exact same problem on the other side of the mountains.

The Spokane Rifle Club down near Riverside Park has indoor and outdoor facilities and is less expensive than Sharpshooters. I went down to take a look and bs with a couple of the guys, but still haven't shot there. I don't know why really, since I like shooting outdoors a lot more than indoors.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
