Oregon Knife Collector Association show this weekend April 8th - 9th

Calling a show with 25 makers that limits entry to 175 buyers the best knife show ever is pretty extreme to say the least. As far as I can tell they don't even sell knives at that show, just "investment grade art work."

Have you or Kevin ever BEEN to the AKI? Without a "yes" to that, you don't know what you are talking about....you are both smarter than that, so spouting stupid is beneath you.

No, have never been to the AKI even though I don’t have an issue traveling across the country for either a knife or an antique Winchester firearms show, done it many times.

I’m always invited, I'm always aware of what the makers are bringing and what went on and feel that’s plenty enough to form an opinion that calling the AKI show ‘the best show ever” is extreme.
Extreme because the AKI is so limited (compared to say Blade Show) in that it’s so focused on such a small segment of the overall knife community.

I, of all people, actually went to the AKI, (2011). It was a weird experience, to say the least. Blade is definitely more up my alley, although I really enjoyed the Seattle show a great deal more. The Oregon show sounds fun, and it's close enough to drive to. Lots of stuff for the family to do there, and that's important to me, since I'd like to include them in my cutlery related exploits

Glad to see the show picking up again. There was a time when this show was a must for me. Lots of knife talk over a long weekend.

Everyone making damascus today is or has used some of the ideas generated from the group of smiths that attended back in the day. Crucible steel used to come and hold a seminar about metallurgy. We've come a long way since then.

The last two shows I did there,I gave away more damascus than I sold. Maybe I'll give it another shot next year.

Contrary to previous statements there are a ton great places to eat around here, from Thai, sushi, burgers and others. (also a huge mountain biking scene) Let me know if you make it down I'll point you in the right direction.

good food and good riding- sign me up!

Last two for the show and probably some of the last few with shark and stingray ever from me (new law in Oregon). A one off kraiken varient and a 4" kraiken. Both double ground and razor sharp in 3V.

The "Persian" looking Kwaiken is excellent.
