Oregon Knife Show!!

Oh man, that brings back memories, Barry! I had a great couple days there, hangin with you, Charlie and Dale Vincent. Knives and good friends, how do you beat that!

When yer right, yer right bud! Wish you were comin', but I'll keep an eye peeled for some nice old EO's fer ya. How much money ya got??? lol I'm also plannin' on pickin Dale's brain on knife repair while I'm there, especially Schrade 'cause they got them Swinden Key thingies. I'm gonna have some fun this year 'cause I'm not manning a table, except as relief.

Come on Philll, it's only three thousand miles! Don't you wish you could teleport? ENGAGE.

Barry, I'll only be there on Friday. No table this year because I double booked the weekend. GRRRRRRR

I'll be at the same table! But the knives will definitely be different!
Thanks for the pictures, Barry!
That's Mark Nagle checking out my wares for stray Schrades!!
Keep any eye out for the mailman, Perry!

Headed there for my first time. Really looking forward to spending the weekend. Not sure about the wife though :) Maybe Sunday night in Florence will help.

Oh man I wish I could go!!! We'll send you some Arizona sunshine. Have fun up there!

Well as it happens, my wife and I both came down with some horrifying cold or flu, so we won't be able to make the trip after all. :(:(:( Rats!

I sure wish they would move Oregon closer to Texas. There sure are some great knife events there.

I sure wish Spock could teleport me to Oregon :D
Meanwhile, some pictures will be appreciated...

Barry called me as we were driving down, to give me the bad news about his flu/cold. We will miss him, and his photography skills!
Get better soon, Barry! And Mrs. Barry!
My friend Rick and I have been combing antique stores on the way, and have found some interesting cutlery! Tomorrow I will try and get some help sending pics from this new iPad.
Just threw 4 people out so I can get some sleep. Many knifes were perused and horse traded!!
And the show hasn't started yet! This trip is the highlight of my knife life each year! (Does that make sense to anyone?)5

I'm down in California right now but if I can get up there I will sure try to stop in. I'd love to meet some of you.

I can certainly understand that, Charlie! It would be highlight of anyones knife life year.

My dad and I just got back home after making the trip up to Eugene for the day and what a good day it was! I'm super tired and my legs and feet are killing me but it was worth it for sure. Of course the highlight of the day for me was getting to spend some time at Charlie's table and giving him some of my money, well actually almost all of my money. ;) Anyways I ended up picking up one of single spey yellow bone Charlow's which is actually my first one. I went there hoping to get a yellow bone with a single clip blade but the only yellow one he had was this spey and I have to say after handling it I fell in love with it and had to pick it up. He also had a yellow rose 66 Jack that had to come home with me. I have a thing for yellow bone and the 66 Jack so that one was a no brainer for me. My phone is having a hard time focusing on this yellow bone without washing it out so these pictures are the best I can do but they don't do it justice.

My dad also got a couple great ones and I have to say I'm very jealous of the Charlow he picked up! My dad not only is new to Charlies knives but these are also his first GEC knives in general and he is already hooked and talking about wanting more. I somehow managed to not get any pictures of his blood red bone harness jack he bought today but I did get some pictures of the 3rd cut stag he picked up. The funny thing is Charlie actually thought this particular knife was ugly but my dad and me both thought it was the best looking one he had! It looks even better in person but here are a few pictures of it. I believe Charlie said there were only 18 of these made. Not bad for my dads first ever TC Barlow!

Unfortunately I didn't really get many pictures of the show or Charlie or much of anything because i kind of got wrapped up in all the knives and then by the time I thought about taking some pictures my dang battery was dead! This is the only picture I have of the show. :(

2:30 in the AM! Fell into bed exhausted at 8:30, and now I can't sleep because I am remembering the fun I had yesterday!
Real nice to meet, and chat with, Jake and his Dad! You couldn't find nicer people anywhere!
I came here hoping to meet some fellow knifers and BFers, and haven't been disappointed.

Also, There are 4 of us in my "Canadian Crew" joined with my good friend Tom from Connecticut, and we have the pleasure of Christine from Great Eastern with us, to whom we sang Happy Birthday last night at dinner! We even had cake and ice cream and a candle!

Of course, part of the reason we come here is to buy sell and trade knives. My goal is to thin out the herd, and also to sell a few HJs and business has been booming. I am halfway to my goal, and it was only set-up day! Two more days of show to go! One fellow bought 14 of my duplicate antique HJs - made my day! Since I haven't figured out how to post pics from here, that will have to wait till I'm home. But here is a verbal snapshot of what's been going on! Remember, autos are legal in Oregon!

One of my homies, Rick, bought a knife marked Flylock on one side of the blade, and Cattaraugus on the opposite, for $60. He sold it to Bob, another of our crew, for $200. Bob sold it to a knowledgable collector for $1000!!! Then Bob kicked $100 back to Rick. All in about one hour! That is the kind of excitement that has been flying around here, typical of setup day, sort of a "wheel and deal" time.
The public comes in tomorrow, so I expect things to become more civilized. Yawn . . . . JK, JK!!
We'll I think I will try for a little more sleep.
G'nite.

WOW!!!
I wanna play pass the parcel too - the only problem is I am always the guy who pays the $1000 at the end!!! lol

Thank you for the awesome progress report Charlie
