Oregon Knife Show

Hi Raymond,
I'm just down the aisle at V-10 with my son Martin at V-11, see you there...Take Care...Ed

I have a table but it is looking like i am not going to make it to the show this year. Master smith knives and my day job getting in the way.

I will be at U11
I should have the axe/gun "Brutus" this year. It should be finally finished! Please stop by and see it.

Bill come on you big wuss!

rnhood,

I think Martin has about 35 pieces complete for the show; 20 arrow heads, 10 or so blades, and a couple of halfed pieces, one of which is a miniature fantasy piece...Take Care...Ed

Was looking forward to visiting your table this year... After seeing that little clip-point bowie D. O'Malley snagged, I was hoping to see if there is another...
:(

Anyhow, I'll be flying low early Friday morning... Just stay outta the left lane!!

Looking forward to seeing everybody!! :D

For those of you who like Bowies, the Antique Bowie Collectors Association will be holding their annual show at this one. It is a rare opportunity to see some of the origonal great knifes of all time.

Raymond, nice of you to put up the link. IMO this is one of the best shows around and a lot to see and learn. The metallurgy seminar on Friday morning is always very interesting. Dick Barber and Ed Severson, inventers of a couple of the CPM steels will host it. I will be at L 09 and look forward to seeing all my old friends (Schemp is not that old) and make some new ones. Phil

Phil, I don't know about Schempp, he's been around about as long as dirt. Now Fowler is just a young pup. If you can make it out to the forging demo, I'll be doing it both Saturday and Sunday at 11am.

Does anyone know what time the show opens on Friday (for members only)?

Thanks,

--SAK

Just noticed that missing from past shows...
Todd Begg
Tom Ferry
Nick Wheeler
Ed Caffery
Jon Christensen

hmmmm... is there another show going on at the same time?

Bummer... will be missing seeing you guys again...

Set up for table holders is 10am. Friday is just for member's only. Just guessing but I would think it opens for members around 1pm.

1. Think Todd got cleaned out at Vegas
2. Dunno about Tom
3. Nick got a real job
4. Dunno about Ed
5. I think that Jon is working on his Mastersmith stuff.

See ya there, Table L-12

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Ed: Looking forward to seeing what Martin has made, he has a lot of talent and a great teacher.

I have one of Martin's knapped blades, and I think y'all are gonna like what you see.

The show sounds very impressive, still losts of makers, and the demos sound great. Wish I could be there. Hopefully someone will post pics......

Probably be there close to noonish depending on traffice and weather... and I'll probably take you up on your offer, so I'll have a few with me... Gotta pay for a trip back east for the 'rent's 50th! ... and I'm driving... Imagine, having to sell a knife for gasoline!!! :barf:

Oh well, I am soooooo looking forward to seeing the show again... dang, 6 years straight!

LOL, we did get cleaned out at Vegas, which is a wonderful thing!!!! But that's not why we won't be there. We have dropped the Oregon show from our schedule, and I believe thats true for some of the other makers listed.
I hope those that are going have a great show and lots of fun!!!

After a lot of hard thinking, I've decided not to go. The first time I went, the show was so-so, and it has been going downhill since. Joeshredd's post makes it clear that this is also the case for many makers.

I hope the show turns around. It's a very nice location, within driving distance for me. However, even that small investment in time, gas, etc, was wasted the last couple of times I went.

Sorry STeven - would have loved to hang out with you.

Steven, I'll be there on Saturday around 10 or 11 a.m. just in time for your Demo, looking forward to visiting with some of you and I'm headin for Bob Lum and Shane Sibert's tables, even before I have a chew.

Anthony
