The Empire display is nearly complete; just a few last minute adjustments for today's judging.
My sales table is overflowing with knives, and I've already sold a dozen. And the general public wasn't even allowed in until today (Sat)!
With 430 tables of knives, members-only set-up day Friday is a frantic affair, with everyone running around for those early deals. I have completely blown my budget on vintage knives plus a custom, directly from Bill Ruple.
Looks like I'll be polishing my salemanship for the next two days!
I don't know if I will succeed in posting pictures before Monday or Tuesday, but I will post some nice people and knives when I get back to home base.
In the meantime, I will just "blog" it from my motel.
If you are here in Eugene, stop by table U-2!
This show is overflowing with nice vintage knives this year:eek:, and some real interesting historical displays. If you are anywhere nearby, you owe it to yourself to come!

Sounds like a really good show out there, good luck with your sales today, and look foward to your pics:thumbup:

Nothing like a good knife show... IMO anyway.

If I was still in Northern California it would be a fun overnighter.

Charlie,

Thanks for the post! Looking forward to hearing how the show goes for you and seeing pictures of your display in a show setting.

Ken

Good luck Charlie! Don't forget to take some pics if you have a chance.

Good luck with the show. I missed it in your other thread but is your Empire display for sale at the show?

Sounds like you are having a great time Charlie. Doesn't look like we are going to make it to the valley this weekend, so look forward to seeing your pics..

Thats one of the perks of being a dealer, you get to cherry pick all the good stuff before the rif-raf gets in :D

Charlie
I am headed to the show this afternoon with my daughter. We will stop by and make introductions.
Regards, Rick

Well, it's only 8 hours to Bend from here. Don't know where Eugene is in relation to Bend but I have to work anyways so...

Best of luck. Sell enough to pay for your new toys and something to eat too!

Man that sounds awesome! Hope you have a great time and sell everything you need to. Take lotsa pics and tell us how it goes. I envy you and everyone else who gets to go!

Sounds excellent:thumbup:

Dearly wish I could drop by for the day and meet you too, but it's over 8000kms away:eek:

Look forward to hearing more and seeing some pictures though.

Bend is only 2 hours east of Eugene. On the good side of the state :D

If you've shopped out the Empires and Schrades you can always look for some Wolfies. :D

Have a great weekend !

Fran

The motel, just before 9:00 pm.
The other guys just left, after a bit of show and tell for the day. Nice haul by the 5 of us clustered around this nice little place real close to the show. I've been asking about Wolfies, Fran!! No luck so far.
Hope I didn't miss you Rick. I did take a couple of breaks from my table, and didn't see you.
Had a great sales day! Sold 45 or 46 knives, almost all more modern stuff except for 3 or 4, and replenished my wallet a bit. Orvet walked off with 5 or 6 Old Timers and Waldens from my table.
The big news is, I won a trophy for the Empire display! The top 12, of 40-some displays won a custom fixed blade. I was number seven in points.
Every year there is a grinding competition, with blanks of good steel provided by the Club. Then the knife makers finish them up over the year, and they are used as awards for that next year!
The Oregon club has it TOGETHER!!
I scored a Roy Humenick sole authorship small Coke bottle jack in the silent auction (for the good of the club). Terry Davis surprised me with another Harness Jack, also sole authorship! A real Knife Day!!:D
Looking forward to tomorrow. It's a big tradition in Oregon, that no one closes their table until 3 p.m. Sunday.
If you come to the show, you get the full show until the bell, so everyone gets their admission money's worth!
I also can't wait to get home to my scratchy old scanner, and show off my booty!
Hope I see more BFers tomorrow!
TTYL,
Charlie
P.S.This is sorta like a blog!
Charlie the technophobe:D

Charlie, envy is my middle name!!!! In case you didn't get an update (I tried texting you but you folks might not be that advanced way out there;):D ), 8813 is a 4" premium stockman, bone handles. Clip, spey, and sheepfoot blades. Good Luck!! (Sounds like you've got plenty of that already! )

I'm really bummed I didn't get to come over. Sounds like you had a great show Charlie, and congrats on the display.

I don't for sure if they are doing it this year or not, but a friend Bob Suttles, has some of his martial arts students perform a great display of knife fighting.
I know its a far stretch from Traditional, but if you get the chance, it really is worth seeing. Those guys are incredible. Bob was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame about 6 years ago. Very nice guy

Having a great time out there by the sounds of it Charlie! Enjoy the last day of the show!!

Russell
