I have pretty much ordered most of my knives on-line and a new knife shop just opened and they specialized in mostly higher-end tactical blades and it got me thinking, What other shops are near buy? I live in Philomath (Corvallis) and am wondering where I can buy knives locally, I would prefer to not have to drive more than an hour so preferably like to stay in the valley or on the coast. My main question is, does anyone know of any outdoor-ish blades, How about own one?

Thanks for the help, TheDandyLion

Lived in Salem for years, but haven't been there in 20. All I know is that it's pronounced "fill-oh-muth" not "file-o-math." ;)

Ah, just remembered. Kershawguy is in Eugene.

I also live in Philomath...

Mad Dog is awesome for high-end blades, and Corvallis Cutlery is ok for "decent" blades. Beyond our little area, Eugene has a knife store, but I've never been there.

This is funny, a lot of people pronounce it like "filet-math" or any number of crazy names and when I tell them how its really pronounced there all like "No, I think I know better" when they don't realize that I have lived there for 17 years (all my life) and I might just know how the name of the town I grew up in...

I grew up in Springfield, but moved away about 7 years ago. There was a shop in the Valley River Center called Excalibur. Not sure if they are still in business or not.

One great thing about Oregon is, we have some big name knife companies based here...
Benchmade
Kershaw
Al Mar
William Henry
Gerber
CRKT
Leatherman

I'm sure I am forgetting some, but you could always check out the factories too. I have been to Philomath many times. It takes longer to write the name, than it does to drive through the town :D

Excalibur closed :(

Oddly enough, as small as Philomath is, we have two Benchmade dealers in town. Mad Dog and Philomath Guns.

I don't know if you have been or not, but the big OKCA show in Eugene is well worth the drive. Plan to spend a lot of time there, and bring lots of money.
If you can't find it there, it doesn't exist :D

If you like Kershaw and ZT, Corvallis Cutlery has a bunch of them. Do your homework beforehand, as the owner isn't very knowledgable about the pocket knives.

What knives are you interested in?

I'm looking for mainly outdoors fixed-blades or large folders in the intermediate price range (under $200), so exactly what I cant find:D

Like I said, Kershawguy is from Eugene. I don't know if he actually has a storefront but I've bought several knives from him. He mostly has Kai knives (Kershaw and ZT) but occasionally some Spydercos and CRKTs. And he generally has "special prices" for Blade Forums members, if you message him.
