Well we have the Cult of The Peanut so why not the organisation of the Opinel (had trouble with the alliteration on that one)
To enter post a pic of your opinel and the date you joined the organisation. I sadly have no pics of my own as I don't have a camera.

I got the big one in Japan in the early 1980s as a picnic knife.

If I said obscene Opinel occultists would I be outvoted by the opposition? That is an obtuse opinion, but I've always been the outlaw, obviously.

If I coulda shoehorned opossum in there somewhere it would have been even more stilted, but it would have been worth it to use opossum.

I'll become an obsequiant. 8/24/14

Order of the Opinel immediately comes to mind. The order of the Texas Jack might just have to change. Opinel cartel?

Dave your no outlaw if your obsequious or a sycophant. I will smirch the Order with my presence:eek:
Just playing around, Dave:D

I use an Opinel practically every day in the kitchen and now I was gifted this lovely...I'm in

:) Well, not a ringleader type of outlaw anyway, but good point. Obsequious is one of them there words I've always read and known but likely never pronounced correctly.

I'm a psycho-phant.

(sick-o-phant?)

At one time I had an extensive collection but due to unforeseen things, (read broken ankle ;) ) I parted ways with just about all except my #13 and then I picked up a #8 Slim in Bubinga wood and that kicked the Opinel virus out of remission;

So here is my 'Slim' collection,

Hoping to add a few more when different woods are made available, these are wickedly slim thin slicing machines, so not heavy duty work but sure do cut...

This cult I can definitely relate to. I'm in for sure. 24/8/14

I'll post a group shot later on... Thanks for starting this, I'm sure I'll enjoy watching the Opinels come by

I will like to show a lot that I got last week off the bay. As I have 22 I guess I have been bitten by the Opinel bug.

Here is my one and only Opinel. A humble but capable number 7.

Here are some that I have tricked up and used a lot for whittlin' - esp the one with the twisted handle.

Indeed it does! and it's one cutting machine let me tell you! I took it to work once, had some jeans with deep pockets so I could put it in there, and went to show a couple of guys my new pocket knife, I fumbled around like I was digging to find it and then pulled it out saying 'ah here it is' they were quite impressed and then I neatly sliced off the corner of a sheet of paper hanging on one of the machines, they couldn't believe how sharp it was!

forgot to mention, the locking ring is just what you see there, it isn't bubbled out like on the lesser models, I'll get a shot showing that sometime so it's clearer how it works.

edited to add, Willgoy, what a nice folder, I might need to save up some pennies for that!

and Mr Chips, could you get some closeups of that first one, all three are pretty sweet carvings!

This is the only other photo of this knife that I have on Photobucket.

I will try to get a couple of others

Pretty cool, thanks!

Here's a close up of my #13 the way it's made it didn't need the wider area for the pin, probably the reason is they don't make a lot of these I'm guessing so to make a die to form such a collar didn't make sense to do it, but it works very well, closed and opened.
