All you owners (current or former) of the Immortal who can give an opinion on that model, add your comments when you can. I have only seen pictures of it from older CS catalogs.
Anyone have the history on why they were discontinued?
Do they ever show up at the big knife shows?

Love it! It's a favorite model of mine. I think it's an excellent rendering of both the American tanto and the gladius--combining the best features of both in a useful folder. Mike Wallace deserved far more credit than he got for such an innovative design (credit from the knife community at large, that is, not from Cold Steel, which appropriately sang his praises when the knife was released).

Here's mine next to another woefully underrated model, the Counter Point 1, which thankfully still is in production (though a G-10 version would be a welcome upgrade).

It may not look it, but the Immortal is very comfortable in the hand. Those handle grooves are in just the right locations to lock in your grip, no matter the orientation.

I can't answer that one, but I suspect flagging sales killed it. Demko Knives MWallace Demko Knives MWallace might offer some additional insight. Frankly, I think it just didn't get enough exposure. Its unique looks probably turned away people who wrote it off as impractical, but its blade shape is far more useful than it appears.

Do they ever show up at the big knife shows?

Probably not, though it really depends on the show and which vendors are there. The Immortal has been out of production for years. Be aware that there are lots of Immortal counterfeits out there, and some are very close copies of the real thing. You can see examples in the Counterfeit, anyone? sticky thread. Do NOT try to buy one on eBay, Amazon, or most re-sellers--trust me on this. Your best bet is eventually finding one for sale here on the Forums or from a reputable consignment seller.

I’m not sure but I’m guessing that it was disco’d due to a low volume of sales. That was probably the most challenging one I’ve built with the non traditional spring layout to make it all fit.

Wow, great insight and I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about it. I do not suppose there is any chance of it ever being revived in some way; I became aware of Cold Steel and Demko Knives in just the past 2 years.

Now I am a huge fan and the Immortal is a “must have”!

always wished I had grabbed one. ive been collecting Wallace design knives for few years now. its one i keep my eye out for on the secondary market.....but those who have them seem to hold on to them.....dont see many pop up besides ebay sellers with ridiculous pricing...

Similar to finding a golden eye elite. There have to be some CSers who are willing to sell / trade theirs. Instigating enough attention to them seems to be the challenge.

I have one I'd be willing to let go. But I'm heading out of town tomorrow, back Sat. Send me a DM.

I’m uncertain as to the future of the Immortal. I don’t have a lot of interaction with Cold Steel like I did in the past.

I'm just curious, Mike, does GSM Cold Steel do you the courtesy of notifying you when they revive one of your designs? I realize they don't have to, but I wondered if they told you they were bringing back the Colossus as the Immense. It seems like the right thing to do. But since they don't even mention that you're the designer in the knife's description anymore, I'm guessing they didn't.

Don't worry. When they reintroduce the Immortal as the clever new "Serious Longevity" model in two or three years, I suspect your name won't be attached to that, either. It's easier to move units when you don't have to bother with pesky details like design attribution or a knife's history....

im pretty sure they didn't. Mike had talked on this while back when asked about it when it came out in a thread(s) on it.

one of gsm's mistakes is they didnt realize how much we trust our knife designers. at cold steel people, in no particular order, like Mike, Andrew and Lynn. sure there were others who helped out there too. bet none of the others are there anymore either, but I dont know.....

How many “former” models have been reintroduced as something “different” and therefore stealing the thunder of (Mike, Andrew and/or Lynn)?
I do not have the depth on CS==>GSM even to guess about the buyout/takeover/deal. But, I am learning more each day.

pretty much every folder that was around before gsm takeover was Andrew and Mike's work. I dont think theyve done what youre asking more than the one we're talking about.....so far.

there is the jimmy slash competition knife...but thats a fixed blade and various opinions on it. we dont need to relive that. you can find the threads on it with Mike's take cold steels take and I think even Jimmy poked in and gave his take.

btw you should take jlauffer up on his immortal. good fella.....plus if ya dont ill pester him to sell it to me.....😉

I did take him up on it and we are communicating, thanks.

Jeez guys, I responded to the message about the golden eye elite for a reason😁

oh I thought ya were talking about an immortal.....but other is great too.......

Just trying to rustle up some more feedback from current Immortal owners who have pics and experience with it.
Certainly there is someone willing to trade theirs for something new or sell it outright!

Contact me via DM and see what we can work out.

IIRC they went pretty cheap on clearance . I almost grabbed one then .

Just did not seem very "practical ", not that I'm usually stopped by such reasoning . :p

Funny how even the LCT LE types can go really cheap , until they run out and become collector items .

almost always what happens. low sales no one wants. discounted to clear inventory....then pop up for sale as top dollars.

I think gsm is making a mistake not re-releasing the immortal. maybe Lynn will with his new knife company. ya see that yet Doc? Lynn's back in the knife business......he was at blade at his own booth and new knife company......
