Original Para Military

I only own one Para 1. It's a D2 with a spyder edge:

Honestly, I don't like it. The ergos never worked for me, but it's such a unique version of the D2 Para that I never let it go. But I've come to the decision that it needs to be owned by someone who appreciates it. Maybe I'll throw it up on the WTT forum or something. It's not getting any pocket time with me.
 
I bought a Para 1 in d2 when Spyderco was selling them on their website for $100. I took off a lot of the back "hump" on the handle the same day I got it....I don't
like/use choils and the handle wasn't long enough for my hand. I never got used to the handle/blade ratio....I always thought the blade was too short for handle.

I traded it a year or so ago.
 
I am going in the other direction. I started with the Paramilitary 2, have several of them, and really want to try the original. I will probably order one this week to have one in my collection.
 
I wish I had kept my foliage green CPM D2 Para 1. I could only use it in the choil position, and like the handle of the Para 2 much more. But the FG is my favorite G10, and it was by far the smoothest spyderco I've ever had.

The CPMD2 Para is the only Spyderco that I would not trade or sell bar hungry kids. It's by far the smoothest Para I have ever owned out of 3 originals and 3 Para 2s. CPMD2 is fantastic steel and I still adore the "industrial strength" clip.

My PE Para 1 with black blade is my daily carry knife. Smooth opening and cuts like a laser. I prefer it over the Para 2 due to the smaller blade length (I prefer blades in the 3" category or under). Handles all of my daily needs without issue.

I also have the FG D2 Para 1 that I picked up when Spyderco was selling them for $100. Great knife, but I have yet to carry it. The green G10 is my favorite color G10, so much so that I am slowly looking to pick up the other Spyderco FG offerings.
 
I want a Para 2, the blue sprint run is gorgeous. Pocket wear, you guys getting along okay? I know the Para2 G-10 is much less coarse than the Triage I've abandoned after 2 weeks (which is like having scales made out of rock candy) but I just thought I'd ask before I buy since the Triage is my first experience with G-10 and not a good one.
 
I always liked the exposed tang on the original Para. It should be ugly, but I find it appealing for reasons I can't articulate. Also not a fan of the off-center clip placement on the Para 2, I much prefer the original clip.
 
I keep my D2 Para2 around because I like the steel - but it doesn't get as much carry time as many of my newer Para2s.
