Original Straight Handle Busse Battle Mistress 1/300

B bfrangenberg Welcome to BF!

It's definitely an older model as you mention as the flat head screws have been replaced by rivets many moons ago. Calculating value on these is always a bit tough as the markets vary based on many things including condition. Tough to see real condition in those photos but certainly looks to have seen some use. If that were mine and I was intending to sell, I might start around $600? But that's really just a guess. It should command more than a newer model to the right collector. Hope that helps and don't take my word alone! Others please chime in...this gent bought a membership recently when he found the need to do so for value related questions.

97-98 SHBM with smooth handle slabs and smooth bolts or slotted bolts
these are the oldest of the SHBM's. Probably the first 50 -100 had these handles I am guessing. LE#37 had them and the 1 of 6 I use to have had them also but with slotted bolts.

97-98 SHBM with partially grooved handle slabs slotted screws
most of these were slotted screws but I have had a few with hollow rivets. Arguably the most desirable SHBM handle

97- 98 - SHBM with fully grooved handle slabs and slotted screws

98-99 SHBM with partially grooved handle and hollow rivets

99 - SHBM with fully grooved handle slabs and hollow rivets
The most common SHBM handle.

mid 99 - SHBM with angle grooved micarta handles and hollow rivets
this is near the end of the SHBM production run and were not very common. I have not see coated SHBM's with this handle but I have a few uncoated ones with this handle. Probably the rarest of all handles that I have noticed.

the end - SHBM with diamond quilted micarta handles like the E-handles.

So do I have this handle?

97-98 SHBM with partially grooved handle slabs slotted screws

Thank you for the information!

I’d think this blade would fetch north of $900

Top to bottom, this is what they have been called, but the actual numbers are questionable. I've seen at least 8 of the 1 of 6's.

There is also this swedge which belonged to the oldest grinds that had a convex tip edge geometry

And then the 10th mountain div swedge. I've only seen two and own one.

Oh, and I forgot to add that there was supposedly 50 with a fully sharpened swedge similar to the 1/6, 1/300. I've only seen one.

Then there is what I call the CHAMFER Mistress. This one displays that chamfer at the spine on both sides. I have seen several like this, but since most are coated, it doesn't show up until you strip it.

I know this is way to much info for a simple question. oh well. To late to take it back now

I would say that the Unicorn SHBM is the diamond quilted micarta handled one. There has never even been a picture of one that I know of. And I have never known anyone who owned one. And at one time I owned between 36 and 39 SHBM's and searched hi and lo, and never even heard of one third party.
