> Go to www.google.com then type in your phone number (separated by
hyphens,
including area code) and click on Google Search. If your phone number is
listed it will show your name and address and give you two map

> Any person wishing to discover the physical location of a phone number,
be
it a home or business address, could use this feature to locate a physical

their
telephone number from the database that is linked to the mapping feature.
> You will first need to check if your number is listed in this manner by
attempting a search - entering your full telephone number separated by
dashes (e. g., 404-524-5811). If the number appears in the mapping
database,
> an icon resembling a telephone will appear next to the first or second
entry on the results page. Clicking on this icon will take you to a page
containing a description of the service, and a link to request your number
be removed from the database.

When are they going to get the idea that we DON'T WANT the world to know everything about us?

The Ludites had the right idea.

This makes me laugh - my father-in-law is a self-proclaimed "Neo-Luddite". The reason for the "neo" - he's not opposed to a good TV program and cold ice cream now and then...:D

It didn't show my location, guess you have to have your home address listed in the book along with the phone number for it to work,
Doesn't hurt my feelings any and I'm sure not gonna put my address in the book.
Anyone that I know that I want to come over I will give them a map or send them my home address so they can search for a map.
Works for me.:D

I hand out business cards with the info on them. Perhaps I'm more concerned about the lack of control, AND the fact that I raised two daughters (adults now), who heightened my sense of their vulnerability from sickos.

That, and I'm a recluse and feel intruded upon.

Kis, is having your home address on the business cards or in the phone book absolutely necessary?

I know what you mean about the daughters. One of ours got tangled up with a gangbanger of sorts, he was supposed to be a bad a$$, but I convinced him it was in his best interests to Not have anything more to do with My Daughter.:)
And I'm for sure not a bad a$$, just raised in Turley OK during the 50's when times were sort of rough there.:D
Seems he had heard of us old Turley Boys.;)

"That, and I'm a recluse and feel intruded upon."
I'm pretty much a recluse as well and I know what you mean about being intruded upon!!!!
I like my privacy!!!!

No number in the book. No address. If I want some one to call me I'll give them my number and I'll make sure they can find the place if I want them tocome to the house.

I don't have much to do with my neighbors but I will help them if they are in real need of help. I don't loan out what little money I have but I am refering to physical help. I have helped fight fires in this area more that a couple of times.
To get right down to it that is in my interest also.

The idea of having to pay for not having the number listed is backward. They should be glad that they don't have to pay to have it printed.:)

I have an unlisted number. One of the reasons I use a mailing service is to keep home address out of public view.
