Hey I love the movie Dune ( the old one by David Lynch ) and I was fantasizing about maybe one day getting a knife made like the one Paul kills Sting (Fay'd) with. I can't find a pic of it on the net though!! Anyone remember what it looks like or have a sketch or pic? I can't trust my memory of it but I remember it was really cool....

the crysknife is available as a resin model.
i used to have one, i even made a papier mache sheath for it like in the move.
(it was supposed to be a bone sheath)

I liked the Lynch production (and so did Frank. He died before it was finished unfortunately)
But, in his books , he described it has having a "black plastic handle with finger ridges and a curved white blade about 20 cm in length."
The blade had a ridge on the spine and a small hole near the tip where poison was kept.

No I hate that one (no offense DIJ)! he used ( in the movie at least, in the book I forget) one that was his like royal Attrades one, if I remember it had like a scalpal type tip...

Everyone loves the crsyknife so its all over but the one i like is sadly ignored even by the dune sites ive lurked...

that one is a copy of the Lynch movie knives. he fought with a crysknife, in the fremen tradition.

I am almost certain that the crysknife is based on the persian kard.
I got one from atlant acutlery and I am very happy with it.

get a copy of the alan smithee version of dune, you'll see it many times...
He used that model in his fight with jamis and Feyd.

Dude I think you are totally right. I think I am thinking of the knife the Emperor gave to Sting to fight Paul, I wish I had the DVD all I have is the stupid new Dune mini-series movie. Thanks for the help DIJ, I'm gonna just have to watch the movie again.

remember to get the uncut alan smithee version, its full of cool scenes and stuff they cut from the regular version.
there is a scene during the battla of the plains (at the end) where aulia is helping the women finish off the wounded sardaukar and she has this "moment" with her head back and her cryknife out in her hand....

(the fremen way of finishing off wounded enemy was to stab intra-orally into the brain from under the chin. that saved blood which was turned into water - a precious commodity)

oh yeah, i know that one.
i used to have a pic around here somehwere.
let me do some digging.

geek!??!?!?

im gonna sign you up for the ricky martin email fan club, you bastige!

I love the line in the film where Muad’Dib 's little sister, Lady Alia Atreides, says:

"And you ask how can this be? For he is the Kwizsatz Haderach!"

You know Bruise is a Bigggggg Dune fan. I heard he even modifed a cat...

I have it on reliable authority the orginal Dune Book was juvenile, but I've childishly re-read it many times.

As for Dune movies,
I LIKED the Lynch version- uncut. In many ways, it is better than the one put out by the Sci fi channel, though that has it's own virtues too.

I agree with Semper about the line- just about the best moment in the movie.

Paul became emperor and a jihad began that cost the lives of 60 billion people.

You need to read book two!

Danny- I've read the other books. Probably twice. The original classic story was the best, the others could not stay at that level, though they were good. That is my opinion, (and the opinion of most, I think)
I was just teasing you a little.
