I recall seeing on bestknives.com a knife by anza cutlery called the dunefighter that was alot like what DIJ keeps describing

That wouldn't surprise me at all, in the first of the book, Shadout Mapes, in a brief encounter with Lady Jessica, gives her a Crysknife. Jessica describes it as "A black handle with deep finger ridges protruded it (from a dark sheath). " "...It was double edged like a kindjal and the blade was perhaps 20cm long." I also thought I read someplace else that Paul was armed with kindjals in wrist sheaths

Quotes above are from pg54 in my copy.

Page 34 Kindjals are used in the duel between Hallock and Paul.

It would seem that the most useful forms of knife have been with us a great while. While the saying Nothing new beneath the sun might not be the truth, perhaps it is in the case of cutlery.

While we're on the subject of weapons, anyone know where to get a kidney, or bolluck dagger's blade?
 
Getting a kidney might be a problem, the transplant list is long I hear, but there was this thing on the news about a guy who advertised on a billboard...

A bollocks dagger well, I'm not sure what that is...

It does look effective, but not exactly what I was expecting.
Maybe if the blade was white and a little more exotic-looking.

Im not sure if it was supposed to be a crysknife, but then why the hell would they call it a dune slayer?

Besides, a stillsuite and muela pistol are higher up on my wish list than crysknifes, what with all the other knives I have laying around.
 
I'm a big enough fan that I was really close to changing my last name to Atreides. It was only after I considered the impact it would have on the new relationship my father and I were forging that I decided not to.

I think I'm one of the few that like the new movie better than the old one. There is quite alot to be said about both though. My wife hates it when I watch them back to back.

I like the fremen knife in the new version as well.

My favorite DUNE item was hands down the stillsuite. Could these really be made? Would the suite absorb moisture and prevent the body from cooling itself? Someone needs to make one of these babies, and I elect Bruise Lee because of his belt grinder and because he LOVES dune ;) . These might come in handy in Iraq.
 
I love it when Paul is pioleting the ship and totally out of no where says

"Ayla keeps pace with storm" ( or something like that )

and his two buddies slowly look at each other and give an expression like "this guy is f*cking nuts!"
