Just got a Series 80 Colt Combat Commander to go with my Kimber. Nice lil gun, needs some work and TLC, hafta replace the sear and disconnector. Time and lack of cleaning looks to be the problem. If anybody has a couple 1911 parts they wanna part with let me know:D .

As to your topic, I'd think that anybody who has the good sense to recongnize the quality of HI would be a 1911 fan. :D I'm afraid I don't have any spare parts, but I'll recommend Ed Brown products above all others I've tried.

I have a 1911. WWI vintage. Says "US Gov't Property" on it. Cool old gun. I put a new barrel on it. Shoots pretty decently, but trigger pull is pretty rough and sights are fairly shallow.

Miss my Colt Systema greatly, but needed the money for school. The 1911 is one of the al time great pistol desgins though, but I'm biased, as I consider Browning the all time great gun designer. :)

I have a Series 70 Gold Cup National Match with a nice pair of rosewood grip panels.

It would be the last one to go methinks.

I also have a Chinese Norico commander. It's good with the new hammer, sear, mainspring housing, Colt/pachmayr grips, front/rear sights and trigger, but it's still not a Gold Cup. ;)

There's something about the 1911 design which is no-nonsense, practical and beautiful in a classic way. Everything about it is easy to operate, and I really dig that grip safety thingy - pure genius. I'd love to own one of those Kimber 1911s, with 10-round capacity and walnut grips.

I feel funny trying to shoot a "plastic" gun. Not that Glocks and such are bad, but a steel frame seems to bring peace of mind. Overbuilt almost, just like my khuks.:D

I'll get several as soon as I turn 21.

Looks fricken' sweet and shoots a wonderful round.

Wish they are all as reliable out of the box as a sig or HK though... =/

When I went to get my first centre-fire handgun, I tried CZ's, Glocks, Hi-powers, S&W 645s, L-frame revolvers and others.

But the only one that 'felt right' was a plain old 5 inch Colt .45. I could put seven rounds into 2 inches at 15 yards the first time I picked one up, and keep doing it.

1911's were made for my hands. They make my best come out naturally.

I LOVE the 1911
Recently I carry a Kimber Ultra CDP 2 for social applications. Nice light easy to shoot piece. I have a race Springfield that goes afield with me in the brush for more field type chores. The 1911 is my all time big bore auto.

I have a 1911 wadcutter gun with "US Govt. Property" on it and a SN indicating manufacture in 1914. John Browning would turn over in his grave if he could see what gunsmiths did to his baby, but it shoots 1.5" at 50 yards. Have to keep it clean though. Also have a Kimber 5" for more routine details.

Yep, I dream the dream too. Bought my first Colt 1911 in '68. Still have it. Great pistol and a good shooter for an out of the box gun. But with the Wilson I could reach Nirvana. :)

Don't have a 1911, YET. But I do have JMB's best design, the Hi-Power. In 9mm and .40 S&W. Were I to win the lottery, I would own at least one example of each one of his designs. Oh yeah, if I win the lottery, UB will be getting a very large order. :D

Got a couple of WWI and WWII government issue made by colt also a couple of 1911A1 made for colt by others, love them, but its time to let some of them go.

My favorite handgun of all time is a Commander-sized, alloy-framed 1911A1. My current configuration is a Series 80 Enhanced Colt LightWeight Commander. If I'da waited a couple weeks before buying I probably would have bought Kimber's alloy-framed Compact.

My second favorite is the Colt Combat Commander. Got one of those too.

PS: Not sure why really, but for some reason, Khuks and 1911's do seem to go together. Yep, definitely some kind of sympatico going on there.

Yep. Got a late 1970's Belgian made Hi-Power too. A pistol with an enormous amount of class. It too seems to be a nice companion to a Khukuri.

Only had experiance with a 10mm Delta elite that I didn't care for. I'm thinking HI products would match up well with a .45 BlackHawk. Both seem to be over-engineered(they both will handle tons of abuse that other designs would fail under) and real simple in design. I'll throw a bone and say that 1911's would pair up nicely with a Sirupati or a Kobra.
