OT :Anyone else here like "B" movies?

Jeana is in Honduras for a few more days so my son and I get to watch either cheesy kung-fu movies or cheesy monster movies.

Son of Dracula. You want extra cheez on that mister? It's like Cheetos. For a change try watching it in French or Spanish and make up lines.

Low-grade kung-fu is great too. Rip a man's arm off and then find him kicking a__ in a small restaurant. Get hit about 1000 times and never even get winded. All before the title.
Even when they speak English the words never quite match up.

Ninja turf (too many blue words for a 7 yr old) was confusing. Never even saw a ninja, but I was forced to relive the whole "Thriller" red jacket thing from the 80s.

Parachute pants anyone?

If they are so bad they are good I generally love them. Into some cult films. "Lonely are the Brave" is my favorite.

I love Kirk Douglas as well. If you liked "Lonely are the Brave", I bet you would also like "Man Without a Star", even though the screen writers aren't comparable. Also, some folks don't care for it, but I really liked Douglas in "Last Train from Gun Hill." Anthony Quinn is in it looking great, and Earl Holiman plays a great spoiled kid/bad guy.

Hell, even the B movies then were better that some of the A movies now!

Casablanca was a very low budget "B" movie; and, somehow through a long series of lucky breaks, they ended up with what many (including me) consider one of the best movies ever made. What a perfect blend of acting, music, cinematography, and writing. They even manage to accidentally release it during the same week that the allies landed in North Africa.

'Heathers' actually transcended "B" Movies. The only problem I had with it was Christian Slater doing a really bad Nicholson impersonation throughout the flick.

I *loved* Hell Comes to Frogtown! I mean what more could you want in a cheezeball movie? A doomsday plot, rubbery-faced frog people (with guns), and Roddy Piper almost laughing his way through the rediculous lines. They actually made a sequel to that didn't they?

Thanx Bill the Cat! i'm still puzzled why the HCTFT series never won a Best Picture.
