Slingshot (collapsable wrist-rocket type) from Walmart... 5$, fits in pocket, uses most anything for ammo, quieter than n airgun.
A sling is even more compact.

When I was a teen, I prefered a homemade large-bore blowgun.
ID 1/2-in or a bit more.
About 5-ft or 6-ft long.
Dart about 8-in or 9-in OAL spring-steel rod (about 1/8-in)
or thin bamboo skewer.

[Too big to swallow if you inhale.
Not true of the darts for the the aluminum-tube blowguns
sold in sporting stores. But those feel so tiny.
Even the 4-in or 5-in long-darts they shoot.]

About 1/3 or more of the dart length is something puffy
to hold it securely in the pipe & catch the air puff.
But not 'catch' on the pipe as it shoots out.
I used to use thin sheepskin glued around steel.
My favorite blowpipe was a section of fiberglass
collapsable fishing rod--light & very strong.

Just did a quick search and found a personal-page blowgun hunting site.

Oh, and it'd be nice if it fit in my pocket.
Looked into similar a couple of years ago for plinking.
Airsoft seems to have problems with tolerances.
Can't re-use ammunition due to dust dirt deformation.
But it was good (intended?) for indoor use.

Tried paintball plinking, but it's more for "shooting from the hip"
Not really target accurate. Otherwise I was getting into it.
But no.

My recommendation based on my experience as a youth---
get a (? $50) manual-pump pistol or rifle in BB caliber (? .17)
to fire either pellets or darts or bb's.
Sort of like getting a BAS or 12" AK as a starter khuk.:D
I always liked the swing-down under-barrel-grip pump.
Lets you decide power by number of pumps.
Single shot repeater.
Don't know the market these days other than passing displays in various stores.
Go to the local store & buy one from the shelf stacks.
Try it, then exchange it if you don't like it.
If returns aren't allowed, shop somewhere else.

Airsoft guns are purposely designed to be noninjurious. Some of them are made expressly for safe force on force training.

7.0 km/s. Um. Wow. Considering most guns I shoot are somewhere between 600 and 1500 feet per second, that'd be around. . . . 1 kilometer is 3280.8399 feet . . . 7.0 x 3280.8399 = 22965.8793 or around 23,000 feet per second. The speed of sound is 1116.43701 feet per second. This thing is going a little over 20 times the speed of sound.

Translation? Really bloody fast.

I though you were referring to the FAA's chicken or turkey gun that they used to fire at airliner windshields. I mean that they'd fire a chicken or turkey at the windshieds at varying velocities to simulate a bird strike.

The time when NASA 1st developed this chicken gun. The British wanted it to test materials for their VFT (Very Fast Train) windscreens. NASA complied and provided them with the plans for this gun. The British eagerly tested it out, firing a chicken at the windscreen, which promptly shattered, blasted straight through the pilot's and engineer's seats and embeded itself in the cabin wall!

The British were horrified, to say the least, and hurriedly sent off a message to NASA as to what had happened and frantically asked them what to do. NASA sent back a simple, 3-word reply (scroll down):

THAW THE CHICKEN

I didn't say that!

I wanted to go ahead and tell that part so badly, but I bit my tongue and sure enough, someone went ahead and did it for me! Thank you for telling that part of the story, Hibuke!

( Lyrics from My Fair Lady )

The Lord God gave man liquor for temptation,

So he would learn and turn away from sin,

The Lord God gave man liquor for temptation, BUT

With a little bit of luck,

With a little bit of luck,

With a bit of luck you'll give right in!

The mouth pieces that I have on my blow guns will not allow the dart to come back out of the tube. I have to push the plastic dart base into the mouth piece with my thumb. Pretty safe.:)

If'n yer wantin' a pure toy that fulfills childhood fantasies, check out the Drozd. It's the only fully auto BB currently being produced. Runs off of C02 and six AA batteries with an actual velocity of around 550 FPS. It's selector allows for one, three or six shot bursts while the cyclic rate is 300, 450, 0r 600 rounds per minute. Comes with a thirty round mag, and is good for about three mags before changing cartridges. Surprisingly it's pretty darn accurate too. it does convert into a "pistol" without the shoulder stock, but it's still not exactly pocket gun material.

I just got mine in a few weeks ago, and it is VERY cool, and quite well made. The first night shooting it I accidentally drop tested it onto the asphalt from the roof of my friends jeep with no ill effects.

The last thing in the world I really needed was a full auto BB gun, but it fulfilled a fantasy I'd had since I was around six or seven.

Of course, I no longer have the heart to purge my neighborhood of anything that moves and some things that don't, but....it's still fun on cans an' beer bottles an' such.:D

If ya' want something more uhmmmm....serious, you can't go wrong with a Benjamin or a Beeman.

Oh, here's a link for ya':
