Awesome shots, JJ. I love seeing raptors. I used to live in Kansas, and one of my favorite things was all of the Prairie Falcons that would perch on highway signs and fence posts looking for prey. Beautiful birds.

Evolute--You have mad photography skills. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics!

Evolute... Amazing pictures! Do you ever use a varmit call to get them close? If not, give it a try.

I've found that hawks and owls are very easy to call. The 'yotes seem to be a bit more educated in my area...;)

Here in the Hawkeye State...well, you guessed it! ;) No pictures though as usually the only time I see them is when cruising past them on the highway.

In the winter months we get tons of Bald Eagles flocking around the Des Moines River. It's really quite a site - I've never seen a Bald Eagle until I moved to Iowa. :)

Thank you.

No varmint calls. I prefer not to work that way.

Apparently 2 of the owls I've been photographing (“Harold” and “Maude” )have a family, their nest is an old raven's nest they 'borrowed'. It's up on the side of a building on the UCAR campus.

Mom, across the parking lot, watching the nest.

They (UCAR, not Harold & Maude) managed to put up a web cam, slow and fuzzy, but it's still cool. They're about a foot tall now.
