OT: Bullwhips

I dont have his email, but you could contact him through ebay.
His ebay ID is : deckel2000

He usually takes your request then quotes you a price.
When the whip is ready (1 week) he will put it on a buy now auction and send you a personal invitation to buy it.
At least, that is how he did it with me.

I had a nice 16' whip, most folks couldn't whip it around their head as it took a bit of strength to keep it afloat, but it sounded like a gun going off when I cracked it. Taught by an Indian down south a long time ago, he had warned my friend and I that his friend lost an eye when he cracked the whip the wrong way! So take care, these are not toys and can and often will hurt you if done incorrectly! I became pretty good with it, snapping off dandelion heads or small branches from trees. Also stacking up three empty soda cans and snapping out the middle one, when the whip struck, it could rip through the metal of the can, easily!

Interesting stuff. Don't Aussie cowboys use a bullwhip to manage the cattle? Remember when I was a kid watching a bullwhip artist perform at a circus. One of his tricks was to flick the fire off a cigarette a gal was holding in her mouth.

Aussie whips are called stock whips. They have longer handles than American bullwhips. Supposedly they're easier to learn to do tricks with.

Any of you guys heard anything about nylon bullwhips? I just ordered one to see if i like messing with whips before i plunk down the cash for a nice 'roo leather one. Plus you don't have to worry about the moisture ruining them. Anyone know anything? strengths, weaknesses? TIA

From what I understand the nylon whip will crack fairly well and won't break on you, but it doesn't give you the control a leather whip does. You won't be flicking any cigarretes from ladies' lips with them.

I appreciate the recommendation, Skeletor. However, the whip in my avatar is a David Morgan bullwhip. I make similar whips though. I should replace that pic with one of my own.

I am an avid bullwhip enthusiast, folks. Uses include sport cracking and weapons systems only. No kinky BS. Please feel free to ask me your whip related questions.
