As usual I always find it good practice to ask like minded people for advise. I've seen a cool backpack (Oakley Icon and Fifty) and wondered what else I could get. I want something bomb proof and usefeul !!

Any ideas

Better asked in Wilderness & Survival forum where lots of us use backpacks regularly. You also need to add specifics of use, and the brands you find in the UK are'nt likely to be the same here. Even the model names change overseas IME.

ATS Raid pack is great for dragging around. It spent over a year in Iraq with me and will be my BOB eventually. Now it just hauls my INFI around ;)

i second the kifaru's. IMO they are expensive but worth every penny. Check out Eberlestock packs as well.

Kifaru is awesome. I also like Tactical Tailor b/c if their simplicity and London Bridge Trading Co. ... Arcteryx makes some good packs too.

I personally carry a multicam Tac Tailor assault pack. It's really been one of the most useful things I own. I have the one that doesn't have a whole lot of extra pockets on it, but has the molle instead. This way you can add or subtract pouches and whatnot as you see fit, or just roll with something small and low profile.

Kifaru is great but their QC is somewhat lacking. Had one for less than a few months and seams bursted in a few places. I mostly use mil stuff and so far out of the brands I have used Specopsbrand, High Speed Gear Inc (HSGI) and S.O.Tech are the best. I don't think ordering any of these would be a problem...

These guys have pretty-much stated the best. I think Maxpedition makes good product as well, and they're usually a bit less expensive than some of the others.

I have a few Kifaru's, and in my opinion, there is nothing better. I have an EMR(huge), Pointman, Marauder, and Express(~2400ci). If your budget is suitable, I highly recommend all of their products.

Brendan...as you are in the UK I suggest ringing Snugpac and asking for their factory shop and then check out the special offers!! I got two packs for much less than the price of one and their gear is pretty good...not Berghaus level...but excellent VFM.

I happen to know that Semper Paratus Tactical makes one heck of a day pack, and also has the "Scout/Tracker" (3K cu in with plenty of MOLLE/PALS). I've got one of each.

Not sure what Dan has on hand, but they're worth every penny, and I'd put Dan's work up against anything on the market.

If I were going to the sandbox, I'd spring for the Kirafu since they have such an excellent reputation. But at that price I can buy 3 or more Maxpedition packs. I've not even been able to ever put a dent into my Maxped's. They work fine for my hunting and wilderness bumming.

Patriot Performance Materials makes some awesome assault packs. Bomb-Proof and worth every penny. Their prices are about in the middle of the range for a good assault pack.

Eagle Industries also make awesome packs. I have one of theirs that I have used for over 5 years now and have carried in more countries than I care to count. This bag has held up extremely well and I still use it quite a bit. I would buy one again in a second.

I have heard great things about Kifaru and I know from experience that anything made by High Speed Gear is going to be great.

All of the sugestions above will serve you well.

Check out Mystery Ranch if you want "bomb proof" and state-of-the-art comfort and design by the most famous/successful pack designer of all, Dana Gleason.

I have the NICE frame a Crew Cab bag set. Sweet.

Stay sharp,

Blackhawk has worked fine for me:thumbup:

i have a 3-day assault with an accessory kit so i can add more storage if i need it.

if you go Blackhawk try to get an older one off Evil Bay... i don't know if they use a different brand of nylon now.... but the older stuff is much better

i have a new one and an older one that still had sand in it from someone's deployment in Desert Storm... side by side you would swear they came from two different manufacturers
