I don't get a whole lot of time to get online here, so I haven't been able to post. So far so good. Only thing we are short on is fast food places, and good coffee. We pretty much have to make it ourselves if we want it, but the PX only sells one kind. I'd mug someone for a pound of real coffee.
The news on CNN says that where we're at is a pretty active area for the insurgents, but we haven't seen much. We haven't had to open fire on anyone yet. Our convoys have gotten delayed while they clear some explosives from the road, and we've had some shots taken at us. Did have a small rocket land about 200 yards from where I sleep, a couple of weeks ago. No one injured so far. Hope it stays that way.
Right now I'm waiting for my platoon to get back from a mission to
Fallujah and Ramadi. They got delayed in Ramadi, on the way back, by a sand storm.
All of our trucks have some type of armor on them. The ones with the light armor we don't take into the more dangerous areas. The ones we take there, have heavy duty armor. The glass is about 2 ½ inches thick. All of our tractors are Freightliner day cabs, with heavy duty suspensions. The tankers are 7500 gallon bulk tanks. We haul JP8, diesel, and a little gasoline. We've been having some problems with breaking springs on the tankers, due to the crappy roads. They don't get in any hurry to repair the bomb holes, especially when there's a new one every week.
Well, I have to get to work. We work nights here, so dinner time is
breakfast for us.
Take care,
