Hi Gang- I just saw a Ruger LC9S and I had to get one. It should arrive in about two weeks.
Who has one or which compact 9mm does one like?

Sorry for the bad pic! Just went and snapped it quick for you

I picked this one up with a Viridian green laser,, very nice little firearm. My one complaint,, is that the trigger doesn't break until almost at the guard,, which after about 50 rounds gave me a bloody finger:eek:! This can be easily modified from a good gunsmith or buy a trigger kit here http://gallowayprecision.com/ruger/...orter-stroke-trigger-bar-for-ruger-lc9-lc380/

Thank you, rcb.
I have a S, striker-fired model coming. This one had a nice trigger pull. I am very impressed with this model by Ruger!
LO- Replace the Glock with ??.

I do love it,, hate the laser but the wife feels more comfortable with it.

Couple weeks? That seems a little off unless you ordered it from an online retailer who sucks on shipping. Distributors are full of them, so your LGS is giving you a very genorous lead time on something that should only take a couple days to get, or my first proposal.

Haven't had the chance to shoot one yet and haven't had to work on one but like how they did away with the loaded chamber indicator.

For compact 9s, I'm still happy with my Sig P290 even if it is chunky for what it is, it's just one of the few polymer guns that feel okay

The only compact 9's that have ran reliably when students bring them to my classes are Glock 26 and 19, S&W M&P 9 and Shield, XD and XDS, and surprisingly the Ruger LC9. Most others have much to high of a failure rate, these are personally the only ones I recommend to others as a true carry gun. I carry a Glock 19 as my smaller 9mm. I have owned 3 M&P compacts but they do not carry well for me. The Shield it the gun I recommend when a slimmer gun is asked about. There is nothing really wrong with the Ruger, they just do not fit me well, and I do not like a long trigger pull.

I haven't shot one either but have handled it. It is a tremendous improvement over the trigger pull of hammer-fired version already. The inclusion of a magazine-disconnect safety on a pistol that must have the trigger pulled for disassembly is just dumb, though. It says right in the manual the user can either make use of the included orange "safety magazine" or an unloaded functioning magazine, to pull the trigger before removing the slide. That's an accident waiting to happen, and IMO the danger of being unable to fire the pistol with no magazine or an improperly-seated magazine, even once, outstrips the safety provided by a mag-disconnect safety.

My EDC pocket pistol is a Diamondback DB9. Strangely it is very unreliable with round nose FMJ of all brands I've tried but runs 100% on Hornady elastomer-filled HP (Critical Defense, Critical Duty, and ZombieMax), and about 95% on my hard-cast handloads (135-gr, and they say not to use over 124!). Oh well, it is what it is. Everything else I've handled is just too bulky for everyday pocket carry.

I have owned a Khar K9 since the year they were introduced. It has been perfect.

I also have a first-year Kimber Solo, which has also been 100%. I like it better than the Khar because of its smaller size and better trigger.
Although Kimber recommends only premium ammo of 147 gr or 126gr, it has been 100% reliable with everything I have fed it, including lots of 115 gr range ammo, and even some 20 year + old 115 gr handloads.

I really like my M&P Shield 9. I'm looking forward to the new Glock single stack 9 if it ever comes out.

I carry my 19 and 26 off duty. 19 in a bravo concealment patriot kydex holster and 26 in a Galco ankle glove and a 17 mag in a bravo concealment mag carrier. At work I carry the 21 with light and 26 on my ankle. The 17 is on my shtf rig and the 20 is just because I wanted a 10mm

ETA: the 19 is my favorite of all the pistols I have ever owned. Including a kahr cw9, Springfield XDMs and xds. Like James Yeager says it's big enough to fight with and small enough to conceal. I Have to say I can't wait for the single stack glock that is whispered about.

wow. Thanks, gang.
A Glock single-stack? Is this pistol in the works?
I made sure I got the LC9S, Striker-fire. This pistol has a nice, clean trigger pull. I just love the slim, rounded contours too. A true concealable design!
Mark- I did order this one on layaway so I will ask the dealer about the two week wait? Thanks.

For starters...damn dirty glocks

Secondly, if you layawayd it, I could see the dealer holding off on ordering it right away until your deposit gets over what wholesale is, that way they're not paying and having to borrow money to pay for a layaway.

Anyway, whenever they do order it, shouldn't take very long

I keep my G17 very clean. :D
Mark- I will call them today and get back with a report.
I thought about a compact .45, believe me but none were as compactie as this Ruger.

I am jealous.... Can't own pistols with barrels shorter than 4.2 inches.....:grumpy:...... And forget carrying!

Nice guns though:thumbup::D

....police officers can't carry a second gun. Many departments won't allow officers to carry their firearm off duty.

My wife likes her Glock 26 and 19, but prefers the G42 for ccw.
I prefer the Kahr PM9 for summer carry very reliable. But feel more comfortable with my G27 or HK45c

:thumbup:Another dirty Glock guy here. :D Sub-compacts: Gen3 G26, and Gen4 G27 with an optional 357 Sig barrel. Compacts: Gen2 Austrian proof marked G19(my first):) Gen4 G32 with optional .40 barrel. Full size: Gen2 G22. Would like to get a G21 or G20. That Ruger looks nice Rolf. Could be an option for deep concealment. I usually use my J frame for that role. Would like to see a range report once you get it.
