Well it finally happened to me. Somehow some punk a$$ thug was able use my "Debit Card" this morning (approx. 1:00am PST). I think I was on the forum here posting. And it was in a city pretty far from where I live. The fraud agent said that the punk actually swiped my card. But the thing is my card is right here with me and was in my pocket over night as I fell asleep with my wallet in my pocket. So the agent said the punk somehow got my # and used it to make a new card.

The extent of the damge is not nown yet. There were two purchases atempted with it. The first one is still unknown and we have to wait for the actual amount to post. But somehow a "red flag" was raised and the second one was blocked. (IF I COULD GET THAT IDIOT IN A ROOM ALONE .....).

My card has been flagged so it can no longer be used. A new one will be sent to me in 5-10 business days. The agent said that the charges this punk a$$ hit my card with will be paid back to us but will take a few weeks. A tad late for Christmas.

THE GOOD NEWS: My wife starts Christmas shopping early so all our kids toys have been bought and wrapped. They will have a Very Merry Christmas indeed.:thumbup:

Anyway, I know you guys know this but just be careful my HOGS and HOGETS! And have a Very Merry Christmas. :D

The bank will take care of the fraudlent charges.

I dropped my debit card in an Office Depot parking lot a couple of months ago.

Someone picked it up and walked into a nearby sporting goods store and bought themselves a new pair of Jordans.

Had to fill out a form a couple of weeks later but everything turned out okay.

I still can't figure out for the life of me why businesses are not required to check for ID to match the card. I can honestly say that I hardly get carded any more. And I ALWAYS show my card. The cashier always tells me they do not need to see my ID. SCARRY!

Some Holiday Cheer there:grumpy::mad:
Glad the kiddies are squared away:thumbup::thumbup:

It's not so much the $$$. It will all be paid back and we have $$$ in savings, credit cards, INFI :D, etc...

It's the principle. That feeling of being violated and not being able to see justice served. :(

I remember watching a show once where a waiter had a little hand held device he used to scan the info. off his customers cards to be able to use the info. later to make fake cards. I wonder how he got my info. On line purchases? Paypal? I have no clue.

More "GOOD NEWS" (I hope): My wife just got off the phone with the bank with more info. It looks like the first charge, the one that went through, was for a gas fill up at the pump. So if I am lucky it will be under $70.00. That aint so bad.

Maybe I better go back to cash only, like my father.

Jerry should make these out of INFI: http://www.nemesis-knives.com/ti.html

I dunno... With the magnetic qualities of INFI seen posted somewhat recently, LOL, ya might find your credit cards not working all of the sudden... LOL

Sorry to hear about some @$$ getting your debit card info and exploiting this for fraudulent gains, Tyrkon Lawson... :grumpy: Man, the holidays always seem to bring out the worst in some folks. Glad to hear that all they got was a tankful of gas, and not a house full of electronics, or a box full of INFI. Hopefully you will not have to be the one who has to pay.

Merry Christmas to you!

Hey Tyr, I just wanna make sure:

Did the person on the phone call you? (not the other way around)
Did the person ask you for private information like your DOB, account number, SSN etc?

If so, and you have not independently confirmed the abuse of your bank account, you might do so to make sure you didn't just volunteer your information to a social engineer.

Sorry to hear about it...:(

I called my bank via their # and talked to their agent. I hope that was safe enough. Not sure nowadays.

Oddly enough, the second charge for $200.00, the one that was declined, was 11 minutes later inside a Shell gastation. I bet they had a butt load of beer. Thankfully it was foiled. No beer on me! Not for them anyway. :p
