So I hear my two dogs barking outside tonight. I peek outide and see them barking at something in our lemon tree. So I grab my mag light and my FFBM and take a look. And after just a few seconds I see it.

Just staring at me. Completely out of reach. This is probably the little bugger, along with his friends, that has been crapping on everything in my tool shed. So I go get my pellet gun and darned if my CO2 isn't all out.

I hate killing things if there is another way but don't rats carry all sorts of diseases? I can't just catch and release can I. So I can wait until the wife gets home to watch the kids and I can run to Walmart and grab some CO2 and hunt these suckers down.

Or is there a beter way. They gotta go. Plain and simple.

Any advice guys? :D

PS: Perfect timming with the link to the Raccoon Massacre on W&C. Not planned though.

See if you can borrow someones rat terrier for a weekend. Its still killing but from what I've heard these dogs know how to kill them quickly by snapping there neck.

pretty sure rats and mice are not a protected species anywhere. they arent considered game animals or varmints.

kill those dirty buggers.

Rat traps with cheeze, and rat poison (in the shed) are tried and true methods. I like the traps best since you can control where the dead body lies. With the poison, they might die in an inconvenient place, like up in the attic or something, where it is hard to reach and dispose of the body.

I have a smelly Jack Russel Terrier I could throw at it. :p

I live in NYC and this summer our block got the worst rat infestation I've ever seen. They would literally run as a herd over your feet. I killed a bunch just by stomping on them while my dog sits and watches.

:eek: That sounds insane. Not that bad here. Yet. But I really do not need their diseases near my kids.

It was really awful and took quite a concerted effort among landlords and supers to reduce the population. I thought about a pellet gun but was told they're illegal to fire in the city.

I use a slingshot on squirrels and I have used a pellet gun on rats. Whatever you do, use gloves when disposing of the remains.;)

Peanut butter on the rat-trap. Deadly combo. Watch your fingers! Cover the trap so the pups cant' reach it, and good hunting. :)

.

go to local hardware store or feed shop ask for "job bar" Just One Bite .It works super fast . Just put where your dogs can't get to it .

If you can keep the coyotes from playing tug-o-war with them, cats are pretty effective rat-killers.

TL, put a small string and tie it in a knot through the hole in the bait plate. Cover it with peanut butter. The rat "feels" something with dexterity and goes for it. BAD RAT MISTAKE! The problem is that rats have figured out traps and get the cheese and leave their remains. This little trick makes them think maybe it's meat or something that isn't so easy to slip out! Give it a try Bro!!! Rat Death :-) Oh and please feel free to add some video! lol
