OT: Danged Rats!

I'm going to go ransack my local Ace Hardware after work today as I will be having my students making "Mouse Trap" catapults Tues and Weds! :D So I will grap a bunch of large traps and some CO2. I pruned the heck out of our lemon tree so they will be much more visible if they go back up there. Also, I had the dog food in one of those big plastic paint buckets from Home Depot. They chewed right through it. Fun... Fun... Fun...

Any food source in plastic is fair game for most rodents. Even really thick plastic is not match. I've seen Gray Squirrels go through plastic trash cans, Chipmunks chew right through thick plastic tool trunks. Even little House Mice can get through some tough stuff. Metal is the only way to go. I keep all of my dog food and bird seed in standard steel garbage cans (in the garage). If you leave them outside, you better come up with a good way to keep out Raccoons. They'll just take the lid off if it's not bolted down:D
