OT ~ Digital Camera Suggestions

Thanks everyone for the input. I spent a good deal of time last night on Steve's Digicam website.

I was looking at this Panasonic model ... sounds like it takes great photos, with 6x optical zoom, but a crappy movie mode (which doesn't matter to me).

I know Panasonic isn't one of the original camera companies, but this seems like a decent buy for $265 ...

Tons of choices ~ almost too many. I definitely want something portable and pocket sized as I'll be travelling a bit this summer and fall. As soon as I get it, I'll post pics of my collection, which I tried to do many moons ago ....

I like my Casio exilim with4.0 mega pixels. It has a big screen and it's pocket size. But I don't know how much it cost, a friend of mine gave to me as a gift.

.
& look for closeout models to save lot$

Unless you need the newest & bestest something or other.

-- & --

don't bother printing at home

the local 1-hr photo whatevers
all seem to have real photo-print stations
that you walk up to with disk or media card
(or email image in)
& walk away with a great "photographic-paper" print cheap
(& from wallet size to 8x10)

I usually crop & color correct before I go in.
usually limited edit options at the station

Thanks Ddean, and everyone else. I'm narrowing it down ~ found a Nikon that I like a lot, only drawback is it doesn't use AA batts, which I think is a nice option, especially when travelling overseas and charging might be tricky.

The Steve's digicam website is a great resource. Good info and lots of great links.
