OT: Do Americans wear shoes in da house?

In rural nevada, even in Carson City for that matter, the wind makes sure that if you vacuum at 9 in the morning, the sand you removed is replaced by noon. It gets into everything!

Well, almost. :D :D :D

Where I live it doesn't get very cold, so I try to take off my shoes before I enter the house, but if my hands are full I often cheat and take them off after I get inside. When it gets cold I wear socks or fuzzy slippers.

I just saw a news story on TV where they took samples from the bottoms of people's shoes and examined it in a lab, they found E. coli, staph and strep. Guess I should really tell my kid to throw away those chicken nuggets that fall on the floor instead of eating them.

Don't be rash, OlPappy. As long as the nuggets don't hit the bottom of their feet, the nuggets are perfectly fine to eat.

Last year sometime, a report came out saying "Mama was wrong." Food dropped doesn't pick up every bacteria in the world the minute it hits the floor. (Especially on the floors of the households I knew as a kid!!! A lot of immigrant families with their first homes; one could eat off the GARAGE floor safely and measure the height of the grass with a micrometer for smoothness.)

Be well and safe.

Even wear my boots to bed ~ how else could I wear my spurs  And if I didn't, the chaps would just look silly :D If my wife reads this I have just taken a vow of celibacy

We take our shoes off about 50% of the time.

Like Kis said, my off the boat kraut mother kept our floors cleaner than most folks dinner plates.
