That's about it. I remember when folks got excited when the test pattern showed up.
We didn't have a TV until I was about 12 years old. We always listened to the radio. I have to say that most of the old radio shows were better than what we have on TV today.
When TV 1st started there was no one that showed even a married couple in bed together. They always had twin beds and everyone wore pajamas.
Now look at the crude and rude stuff that comes into your home that your kids can see.

Damned straight TV has a BIG ( HUGE even ) influence on your kids!!!!!
Our first TV was a Sylvania "Halo Lite" that had a small glowing ring around the screen.
I remember when we were in Washington State and got Texas Wrestleing on "the bounce" straight outta Texas on Saturday night.
The old man would get quite upset if there wasn't any cloud cover between us and Texas on Saturday Nights.
I remember the test patterns as well and also going down to the local store to check several of the old vacumn tubes at once that the store also sold to keep everyone's TV running.

And then I think the most ridiculous thing that was ever made for TV came out. The Blue ( What was the middle color? ) and Green transparency a little bigger than the TV screen that one set in front of the TV to make believe it was in color!!!!!!
I wonder if anyone still has one of the old round screen TV's around?
Those were the very first ones to come out.
I still have the radio we listened to from the time I was 4 or 5 until we got our 1st TV.
And it still plays too.
