If you guys have already talked abouth this one then disregard this thread...

Has anybody seen the New Ruger "Alaskan"?

A snubby .454 Casull...or .480 Ruger.

I might be a tad sceered to touch that one off! Dang!

Somebody post a pic of that wee monster!

Looks like a flare gun!

I once shot a long barrel .454 Casull twice. Then I gave back to its owner and thanked him.

Spotted the manufactures defect right away, which was the presence of a front sight.

Other than that. WOOHOOO!!!! I just found me a new concealed carry gun!!! :D :D (Unless I can legally carry a full auto mac-11 under a trench coat?) :D

Not much of a front sight, but the rear might hang up on a coat pocket.
It's just the Super Redhawk with the barrel even with the shroud.

You lose some velocity.

That is a pretty small front sight...maybe Ruger really WAS thinking ahead on this one...the original mention of the front sight was in mention of this item posted in the original bear thread:

Hey, that reminds me, have you heard of Smith & Wessons latest design? It's a .44 mag made specifically for bear in Alaska. It's made without a front sight on it. When asked the reasoning behind this unique design, the factory representative commented "they're designed that way so it'll hurt much less when a bear takes it and shoves it up someones a$$

In all seriousness though this gun turns my crank more than any handgun has for quite a few years. If I can save up the fundage I'm seriously thinking I'd like to own one.

The muzzle flash would blind you at noon...

attacking bear/END-OF-THE-WORLD-ATOMIC-FLASH/whappened?

2" .357's are mean enough.

I would not shoot that on a $5 bet.

(for $20 I would)

Ad Astra :(

and I will never, ever, ever, ever, see a real bear. The threads just aren't worth it.

Hey.... wasn't Yvsa looking for a .45 caliber pocket gun? This one might do it! :D

Dang when I first saw it I was thinking you could start a forest fire with that thing!

That reevolver should be crew served mounted to a roll bar or an Apache helicopter or something.

It ain't my thing..dang...they might have gone a bit overboard on this one...did I say that?

Wonder how come they didn't port it?

Shane

There's no place to put the ports! I still haven't seen a big-bore revolver that I'd trade my Anaconda for.

If it fits you, keep it. I like the Standard Redhawk better than the Colt Anaconda.

I have a 7.5" Blue 41 Redhawk I'll pass on to a son.

41 ounces according to the Ruger homepage. And the only thing that could hurt more than the recoil- the price...$819.00 :(

And poverty prevents another gun purchase for me... (Actually poverty is less of a problem than obtaining the wifes permission for such purchases) :D

Super Redhawks are around 550 Perhaps the Alaskan may be a little more, but certainly not 800.

I like the snubby 454. Even if you shoot at someone and miss, you will have set him on fire with the muzzle flash.

Ice :D

In Georgia, with a 'carry permit' and a paid tax stamp on the MAC, you can carry it, legally. Did you know the MACs were made in an Atlanta suburb, Marietta?

GLocks in Smyrna, another Atlanta suburb?

Us Georgia boys like our guns!
