OT: Hiking with Goats

It happens. I don't think there's enough goats and Llama's used to have created a terror of cat or bear predation, though. I do think you'd lose one every once in awhile, and a cat or bear learning to eat pack animals is going to be a real problem.
At the very least, the animals are going to attract attention, certainly from any Cougar in the area.


Maybe you take a couple spares with you; the sacraficial goat.

I know a lady in MT who used to raise goats and she had multiple big cats get IN her barn and eat some of her best goats. She said she never went to milk without a 357 cause she had accidentally cornered a couple before in her barn, not knowing they were in there. She killed a couple I think and then finally got livestock guardian dogs.
