I'm toying with the idea of piggy-backing a S&W airlite (2" snubby) onto one of my drop-leg sheaths (probably on a Mojo )... I'd want to make it removable, so maybe something molle compatible??? I'd also prefer to go nylon over kydex.

Does anyone have any ideas, or know of any products? Got any links?

THANKS.

I know of no products that would fit your requirement. Even in the tactical drop leg type holsters, I have never heard of anything like what you are describing. I think the reason may be due to tactical principles--things like you don't want to be accidentally grabbing your knife when you really need the gun, or you don't want the handle of the knife to impede the drawing of the gun. If you look at where officers carry their tasers, they are usually mounted on their duty belt placed for a strong-hand cross-draw (ie. on the other side of their duty weapon). One of the reasons for this is that we don't want officers grabbing the taser when they need their duty weapon, and vice versa.

I've got one for my Model 36 that I think would work. It's 'universally' configurable, and will take any type of clip or mount. Have one for a Model 10 also

I just looked, it's sterile, it's made by a local company, I pick them up at the Tanner or Crossroads gun shows in Denver.

Here you go Eli,

I really like these.

I bought my fiance a Blade Tech Kydex holster for quick on/off pants carry for her model 60 3". This is more for around camp/homestead/back forty needs.
It is a very nice setup but if you end up with Kydex, you'll want one with a removable paddle and maybe the capability to lash into the top door of a pack or something of the sort.

If I were carrying one I would personally go for a high ride in leather (dry settings), or find a quality nylon setup (Eagle/Blackhawk like quality) for wet weather/camping.

I am thinking of picking up a S&W 686+ and have been considering the different possibilites as well.

Let us know what you decide:)

Thanks for the info guys... I just ordered the uncle mikes, cheapo... I'll toy with it and see what it does. Jimmy, those are real nice and i may go for it if I decide to make this gun a part of my woods pack.

I've been an auto guy, but this little airlite got the best of me at the gunshow Sunday...

I took it out and shot it a bit this morning and wow, hot 357 rounds are a handful in this 13oz gun... It's sure fun to shoot.

My wife sort-of enjoyed the 38 rounds, even managed to handle the hot ones. The problem is accuracy with that 2" snubbie... About a 4" group at 7 yards if i take my time --- but it expands to 7 or 8" group at 10 yards --- and that's in single action, we won't talk about double

Looks like i need to do a lot of practicing if this one is going to see some use

here's the obligatory Busse photo

LOL, Jimmy you just alarmed my wife with your ammo identification skills

Just sell me that knife and get yourself a proper belt holster. Problem solved!

If you ever need it when it really counts (and hopefully you won't), you'll never even notice that "handful".

LOL, er, a, my apologies to your wife, :o

Tell her I practice with flash cards, ...yeah that's it.

Will it fit in the accessory pouch on that sheath, looks like its almost there.

No kidding... I'll just have to wait until the attacker (be it man or hog ) gets within 7 yards!

The biggest danger to me in the woods are copperheads and rattlesnakes --- I'm ordering a few CCI shotshells to see what it paterns like --- 2" rifled barell???

LOL.

No, it won't fit there, but I'm wondering if On Scene can make a little something for it? I need a new sheath anyway. May have to suck it up and get it in kydex...

158 grain LSWC is certainly the traditional choice, but lately I have been using the 135 grain Gold Dots that were developed for the snubby. It is a +P load, but I like them a lot. At 7 yards, they shoot to point-of-aim with my 242.

Nice Pic!

I shot some Cor Bon 140 gr JHP today as well, need to pic up some 135 gr Gold Dots and give them a try. Are they like the Buffalo Bore rounds for the snubbies? Less muzzle flash and noise?

I realize that it was written by the manufacturer, but this http://www.le.atk.com/pdf/SpeerTech38_135HP.pdf is why I chose this round.

This SPEER Gold Dot Hollow Point ammunition was specifically
designed to operate in the most prevalent back-up revolver: The
Smith & Wesson J Frame with 1 7/8” barrel. Ballistic gelatin testing
demonstrates excellent terminal performance when shot through
the FBI Ammunition Test Protocol.

I have no experience with the BB stuff.

Why ?

A good 2" snubby is capable of hitting a mansize target to 100 yards and beyond. Something a "woods encounter" might require.

All it takes is practice..........and then, not as much as you might think.

.

LOL, i don't know about 100 yards (I have trouble with an open sighted rifle at 100 yards :foot:)...

But you're right --- practice, practice, practice. No complaints here, practice with this little guy is a ball :thumbup:

(just a little expensive...)

That's why I shoot lead, 'fight like you train', I'm not willing to spend the money to practice with enough exotic ammo to achieve any level of competence or confidence.

But I do have some 158 gr. gold dot's cranked up to around 1500 fps (that was the original .357 load ) they work real well in my Security 6, a little hot for a snubbie.

What's that tagline/quote I can't quite place

'a good hit with a marginal bullet beats a marginal hit with a good bullet'

I EDC a Beretta Model 21, 7+1 shot .22 LR :o, I know where it shoots, and I always have it.
