Do any of your customers know anyone who could solve your problem with your neighbor? Take him for a ride somewhere and talk to him a bit?
I'm very sorry to hear about your pup. That just makes me sick the way some people are.
Just for future reference here if you think your dog has ate something he shouldn't have, make him drink hydrogen peroxide. I just use an irrigation syringe and shoot into his mouth and make him drink it. In a few minutes he will be puking and puking and puking his guts out.
My pup ate an aspirin that was dropped on the floor and an aspirin will kill a puppy. He was about 2 pounds and about 4 months old. It was about 11pm, so we called our vet at home and she said to give him the hydrogen peroxide and he will puke it up and then get him in first thing in the morning. I gave him about 20cc or so then took him in the next morning.
The aspirin started to kill his liver and he had to go on meds for the next 3 months, and get monthly blood tests to get him back to normal, but his fine now.
About 10 years ago my lab as a pup ate bar bait. I was lucky though and got him in within a couple hours. He was fine, but was on vitamin K or maybe K-12 or something like that. I guess it makes them bleed out internally and the vitamin K stops that. Anyway, he was fine, but was on meds for a few months as well.

Other societies aside, this particular society value the life of companion animals quite highly.
With that bias in mind, let me ask you this: Would you let this person anywhere near your child or be alone with someone you love?
Its all about deliberately trying to hurt something that is culturally perceived as truly innocent, its not a far leap, and that makes this person worth many times less than a puppy.
You're right that murderous vigilante justice is not the answer. I doubt that was what partisan1911 would actually do given the same situation, but I can understand why he said that he would.
