OT: Homemade Karda Sheath [one pic]

Yes thats nice work . I was referring to the original knife sheath posted unless there is an image I am not receiving .

I'm with Kevin, the handle on that karda looks so nice that it's just plumb teasin' not to show the blade too. :)

Ya show the blade show the blade ! :D

Hahaha, sure, I'll show the rest of the karda. But you guys are gonna have to wait until I get back from work tonight! The reason I didn't put in another picture with the "naked" karda is because I'm reprofiling the edge and it's got file scars at the moment. But I'll give it a quick clean-up and put up some eye candy later today.

By the way, Sarge, that's a mighty fine neck knife you put together. I hope one day I'll have a minimum of skill required to make my own blades.

EDIT: Ok, I lie. I had some time so I whipped up some pics real quick. Not the best lighting or quality, but these should tide y'all over.

Here's the karda with its big brother:

And here we have the karda by itself with the back side of the sheath. It looks wonky, but it puts the knife at a nice angle on my hip.

And here you can see where it rides all day. I took this picture in the mirror so it's actually on the right side. I'm not left-handed but I didn't remember to take that into account when I made the sheath

Enjoy! And thank you all for the kind words!

Absolutely outstanding pics Tycho
That karda is very nicely made, and looks just the right size for cutting up a steak, or opening up, oh I don't know, maybe one of them long boxes from HI. ;)
Sheath looks good too, would look right at home at a mountain man rendezvous.
By the way, for your next go around, may I suggest you try a dangler scabbard. So called danglers, sheaths that hang from a suspension thong, are about my favorite way to carry a small to medium sized knife. The fact that they're able to "move with you", makes dangler scabbards a very comfortable carry method.
I've attached a couple pics of some of my medieval knives, so you can see my preferred method for attaching suspension thongs to scabbards. However, that's just one way, the Scandinavians have a variety of methods that all seem to work well.

p.s: looky here little brother, you eat some of my chili, and wash it down with enough beer, you won't have to worry about your britches falling down ;)

I like your job though I was referring to the knife in the original post pics . The handle looks so nice I wanted to see the rest .

Thanks Sarge, I'll look into that dangler scabbard. Never used one, but seems it would be quite comfortable. I picked up a roadkill squirrel on my way home from work so I'll be making the rawhide insert tomorrow (I hope). It didn't have any brains so I will have to trap/hunt something else to make another sheath.

And I'd love some chili and beer, so long as it's proper spicy chili :D
Can't stand that bland stuff, ya know! I like my chili to knock me over from 10 paces.

Peace,

"so long as it's proper spicy chili"

Oh lordy day, you cut me to the quick, 'course it'd be proper spicy chili. Boys in my old squadron just had a salsa making contest. One of 'em called me up and swore on a stack of bibles the three category designations were 1. Mild, 2. Hot, and 3. "Tastes like Sarge made it". :D

p.s.: if you think I made that up, go ahead and contact the 712th Air Support Operations Squadron at Fort Hood, Texas. There's a lieutenant that swears I tried to kill him by giving him some of my "Tres Diablos" salsa.
